Kerberos in the handbook
Is anyone currently working on updating the Kerberos documentation in
the Handbook? if so, I'd like to help. If not, I'm hoping to find
someone who can get me up to speed on the FreeBSD docbook extensions :-)

Kerberized applications in FreeBSD 5.x
In FreeBSD 5.x only telnet/telnetd works 'out of box' with kerberos.
Why ftp/ftpd, ssh/sshd and cvs do not support kerberos ?
Thanks!

unified authentication
Howdy list,
Sorry if this is a frequently discussed topic,
or an off-topic question, but I couldn't find much
info about my question by performing quick searches
in the archives, and my question is pretty tightly
related to security...
Background:
===========
I have a number of FreeBSD machines. Most are 4.x,
but a few are 5.x (mainly the testing/devel machines).
I also have a single Red

Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6 over SSH hangs on Win2k->Win2k
...his for some time, while all my research and
efforts have failed. I really want rsync/ssh to be our solution (Open
Source advocacy is a hot button in our shop here!) but I can't let this
failure to log off or restart production servers continue.

PATCH/RFC: Another stab at the Cygwin hang problem
Hi,
In http://sources.redhat.com/ml/cygwin/2002-09/msg01155.html, I noted that
the often-observed hangs of rsync under Cygwin were assuaged by a call to
msleep().
After upgrading my Cygwin environment to rsync 2.5.6, I'm seeing these
hangs again, not surprisingly given a CVS entry for main.c notes that
this kludge was not harmless:

Kerberos to file server
Howdy,
I may be approaching this problem entirely wrong, or not. Was hoping for a
little guidance one way or the other.
I've got this AS/400 with gobs of unused file storage on it that I want to
share across as a file server to a FreeBSD box. The AS/400 side of things
supports NFS and kinda pretends to be a Unix like machine in this role.
Users will be booting from diskless clients

Phone Emergency - Need IAX Help
SBC has an outage that is expected to last until tomorrow
in our area. This has taken out our 5 POTS lines and our T1.
I have signed up with EXGN for outbound calls and am using
IAX. Calls ring through to the other party (my cell phone in
this case) but Asterisk doesn't seem to think the call
was answered. Ideas?

mtree vs tripwire
Hi all.
This might seem really naive, but can mtree be used effectively as
a native-to-core-OS tripwire equivalent? Would it be as efficient in
terms of time-to-run and resource requirements?
What sort of pitfalls should I be aware of?
Has anyone here done this? If so, would you care to share your
scripts/techniques?
Thanks,
Dave

a very simple problem, but unknown solution
In our environemt, we use PCs (NT) running a JVM that produces unique file
names, and data content about 100K or less. We only write to these file. The
JVM (the application) does spawn many threads so the net effect can be many
simultaneous file creation requests from one PC.
All the files are written to a samba mounted directory, and the directory
*file* itself does get somewhat large. The

Rsync utilization every 5 seconds
Hi.
I installed the rsync and I need it to run every 5 seconds between 2 machines.
I was planning to use it in crontab, but this allows only every minute.
I couldn?t find how to do it.
Could someone explain me how to run rsync automatically every 5 seconds?
Thanks in advance,
Mauro

puppet/naginator?
I''m very interested in the way that puppet appears to be able to
generate nagios configurations though I can''t seem to find any
documenation on how it works:
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/naginator
is clearly a placeholder page...
Meanwhile the various pieces of info at links such as:

are just teasing me.

how to configure a FreeBSD firewall to pass IPSec?
I have a FreeBSD box acting as a firewall and NAT gateway
I would like to set it up to transparently pass IPSec packets -- I have
an IPSec VPN client running on another machine, connecting to a remote network.
Is there a way to do this? I can't find any hints in the man pages.

Extension Always Goes to VoiceMail
Hello all, I have just inherited an Asterisk system (2 days ago) and
am still trying to
get a handle on it. (while fixing a billion other things the previous
admin screwed up)
One of my first tasks is to determine why when a certain extension (say 421)
calls another extension (434), the call always rolls straight to 434's voicemail
without ringing.
421 can call other extensions with no
