Problem Upgrading to R 3.5 on Ubuntu 18.04
...it opens
version 3.5.? If I go to Ubuntu's graphical interface as sudo user,
Software library, R is listed as installed and if I click on the
"Remove" button, nothing happens ...
Any suggestions on how to expunge this rogue installation and start anew?
Thanks,
Liz

Problem Upgrading to R 3.5 on Ubuntu 18.04
...essage that the "software is not installed" when I tried to remove it??
Also what does it mean in your note when you say: "you will need to
trace want on your box does"?
Thanks!

Lotus notes file types
Does anyone know if it's possible in Wine to associate file types inside
Lotus Notes? I'd like to have my "Launch" capabilities back. Then again,
I'd like to get my printing fixed as well.

revolution mkl with R 3.01 on Ubuntu 13.04
So I have two Dell power-edge machines running latest Ubuntu (13.04)
with latest version of R (3.01). I installed revolution-mkl on one
machine (T-410) and it works fine. On the second machine (T-620), it
says the latest version of revolution-mkl is installed, but I'm getting
no multi-processor functioning (R-benchmark-25.R) runs on a single
processor and takes same amount of time

running R in batch mode on Ubuntu
So, I'm submitting R 3.0.1 jobs on Ubuntu (13.04) using 'R CMD BATCH
--no-save filename.R &' (have an alias set to subr='R CMD BATCH --no-save")
and am having a problem of sometimes the process ending without the R
commands contained in the batch file actually having finished running.
We're running Bayesian models using R2jags jags.parallel and it ends

adwantages of ogg container?
Hallo all,
euphoria
with cheese, the project i working on, i needed to make decision about
codecs and containers we use. I'm clearly not expert in this. After the
euphoria about vp8/webm going slowly to the end, i see advantages what
theora has against vp8. Seems like theora perform better on LoEnd
hardware. Even x264 with good optimisation work not really good on slow
Athom.

Printing under Wine - Mission Impossible?
Hello,
I've been trying to print under apps running with wine for a while.
In wine docs it says wine automatically detect CUPS printer. Well, I have
CUPS installed, everything prints great, except apps running under wine,
which say that no printers are installed.
CUPS version installed. Debian woody version - 1.1.14.3
Wine version installed. Prepackaged Deb 20021013.
Can anyone point me

Printing under Wine - Mission Impossible? (solved)
I finally compiled latest 20021031 tar.gz myself with cups development deb
package installed and finally got cups to work. I also send a note to the
daily deb maitainer to ask him and "why not" suggest him to include this
feature. Hopes he does :)

...Matroska is certainly used to multiplex a far wider
set of codecs and whatnot than Ogg; but then Xiph/Ogg has its open
source political aspirations as well, which severely limit what
is/can be offered
* As a more centralized and "committee-bound" thingy, Matroska was much
more tighly engineered at its inception than Ogg, and it also seems
a bit better geared to handle today's
piece-of-media-over-stream-of-media preferences; I'm thinking this
could explain much of its current market value
I'm certain I've left out a *ton* of points, so do continue wit...

cut and paste problem
Dear all,
I am new to wine and try to use it to replace vmware for
word/powerpoint applications. The first problem that I encounter is
that I am unable to cut and paste under all the applications
(notepad/word/powerpoint).
It seems that the issue is related to the clipboard behavior because
when I cut (under notepad) I get an error message stating: "Empty clipboard".
Which is kind of

[RFC PATCH] Exporting ACPI Pxx/Cxx states to other kernel subsystems (v1).
Hello,
The following patches are a solution to a problem we have encountered
when using the Xen hypervisor:
- Need Pxx/Cxx states to save on power consumption when using Xen (we
do want those datacenters to consume less power!),
- Also need to figure out the Turbo mode so that the scheduler can properly
boost a core for CPU bound guests.
In essence the Xen hypervisor requires that
