ssh and root on 4.10 = password discovery (maybe)
Hello. I'm not 100% sure if this is a configuration error on my side or
a 'bad idea' on sshd/FreeBSD sides.
A remote root ssh connection to a FreeBSD 4.10 server (with no remote
root access) will allow you to 'work out' the root password. However, if
you try the same against 5.2.1 FreeBSD, you have little chance. The
following are pretty clear examples.
If this is a config

Sieve prevents tigger of quota-warning
Hi All
I have a few reports from Sieve users, that they are not receiving quota
warnings.
It appears that when a mailbox is reaching quota, and sieve is
responsible for moving mail the mail due to a rule, the quota-warning
directive is not triggered?
It works fine if Sieve is not part of the flow, and lmtp is alone in
handling mail saving.
Does anyone have a fix or insights into this?

Samba problems ( still after using diagnose.txt )
Hi Andrew,
I'm having problems with Samba, on FreeBSD 2.2.5.
I have tried both Version 1.9.17p2 ( Which came with the release ), and
the latest version
1.9.18p8 ( from samba web site, and recompiled for FreeBSD ).
Both smbd, and nmbd are started from the command line as follows
( When compilying the code I changed the SBIN directory to sbin (
instead of bin )
/usr/local/sbin/smbd -D

secuirty bug with /etc/login.access
/etc/login.access does not work 100% over ssh.
I have the following line in login.access
-:ray:ALL EXCEPT LOCAL
Which I believe means the user 'ray' can not login from anywhere unless
it is a local login.
So, I tested it over ssh from a remote box
tigger@piglet:~% ssh ray@sonic.cbnmediaX.com.au

Can't see Samba server from Windows
I cannot see my Linux box running Samba to print or access files. The
output of "smbclient -U% -L localhost" seems to indicate I should see
one share and one printer: (the ...0.250 ip address is for my DSL
connection, the ...0.2 is for my LAN)
added interface ip=192.168.0.250 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0

WinXP - Can Join 2.2.2 domain - Not log on
I have read through the mail archives to find a solution to my problem...
to no avail. Here is the issue:
I have a Samba 2.2.2 acting as a PDC, with Win2k I can join the domain
and logon as a domain user. No problem. (So it is working and set up
properly).
With WinXP - Pro, I can join the domain, successfully. However, once I
do the reboot I cannot logon as a domain user as I did with

instantrails and oneclick
Today I return to Ruby after 12 months. I find I have several
installations, including Ruby 1.9!? Decided to rationlise things a bit
before starting to learn Ruby again from scratch. Rails is hot stuff and
I find I also had an old version of InstantRails (this is an XP
machine... calm down now, it''s all I''ve got (well not quite, but I''ll
come to that later)).

Error in "[.default"(mf[, 1], , 1) : incorrect number of dimensions
Hi there!
I would be very appreciative of your help with getting ride of the above mentioned error. As apparent on the following output, I am trying unsuccessfully to run glmm following strictly the example accompanying repeated package. I was able to get it from http://microarrays.unife.it/bioc-mirror/lindsey/stable/src/contrib/html/

editpostfix setup
Hi,
i've setup the samba environment like described in the wiki:
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix
I can now easily add windows user / machines when using the policies for
"Administrator".
I have also setup unix account session auth via libpam_ldap, libnss_ldap
like described here:

I have created a mirror of the fxruby-users mailing list in Google

it if anyone has a strong objection to its existence. Otherwise, I
hope that it proves to be useful.

Can I replace my Windows install with Wine, on my hardware?
I'm relatively new to Wine. I've been hearing about it for a while now. I've look a various comments about Wine on the net and I seems like a lot of people have got it to work for them. I've even used at work to run Inno to create a simple windows installer, which work well, although the User Interface was ugly (probably some missing fonts and things).
I have a laptop at home
