Restore a node in a replicating Gluster setup after data loss
Hi
We have a Replica 2 + Arbiter Gluster setup with 3 nodes Server1,
Server2 and Server3 where Server3 is the Arbiter node. There are several
Gluster volumes ontop of that setup. They all look a bit like this:
gluster volume info gv-tier1-vm-01

Number of Bricks: 1 x (2 + 1) = 3

Bricks:
Brick1: Server1:/var/data/lv-vm-01
Brick2: Server2:/var/data/lv-vm-01
Brick3: Server3:/var/data/lv-vm-01/brick (arbiter)

We took down Server2 because we needed to do maintenance on this...

Gnome Terminal and xterm problems
I've noticed this in CentOS 4 & 5 and Fedora 5 & 6. If I'm in Gnome
desktop and using any of the terminal programs and I ssh into any
server, the connection just hangs. Not drops, it just hangs and
doesn't recover.
These servers are all over the country on different ISPs in Tier1
datacenters. Some are in our office, so they are on the local lan.
We have a mix of RHEL 3, 4 & 5 and CentOS 4 & 5 on the servers. If
I'm using a windows computer with putty or SecureCRT this never
happens, it only happens when I'm using any of our linux desktops or
laptops. It d...

[GSoC2012] Learning to Rank: few thoughts/issues
...ted set of features.
Current implementation in xapian's LETOR has 5
features[tf,idf,doc_len,coll_tf,coll_len]. While algorithms for learning
ranking models have been intensively studied, this is not the case for
feature selection, despite of its importance. In a paper presented at
SIGIR'07 [Tier1 in IR domain], the authors have highlighted the
effectiveness of feature selection methods for ranking
tasks.[link<http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/people/tyliu/fsr.pdf>]
I believe that apart from the traditional/cliched IR features, we

Rsyncing UPdate repo yoyoing
It has been crazy this past week how a rsync on the update repo keeps
downloading a number of openoffice.org rpms then deleting them. And the
repodata directory seems to be messed up so that I have problems on some
systems doing updates with it. My rsync script is:
#!/bin/sh
rsync -auv rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/5.2/updates/i386/ \

Release of centos-3.3 ISP bill
It turns out that the release of Centos-3.3 was so popular, that it threw us
way over the threshold of our ISP's, and now we are stuck with a _very_ large
bill (as in an estimated 6TB of transfers). While in one hand I am ecstatic
that we are so successful, but on the other hand, that is coming out of the
developers pockets. The developers should be the last ones footing these
bills (and this
