anyone know of a list or wiki for GWC?
Hi!
totally OT...
Hoping there is a mailing list or wiki (or other help forum)
for GWC, but haven't found one yet.
I'm working on converting a bunch of my LPs to CDs, and am using
GWC (Gnome Wave Cleaner, or GTK Wave Cleaner) to clean up the noise.
It works great, but I can't figure out how to deal with certain types
of pressing flaws that create a thump every time around.
Anyone

Thumps
I setup up a server for my startup company using centos. When I call up the home page the default apache web page comes up.
This is fine.
But then the browser changes the URL in the browser to the servers IP address.
Never seen this before.

...nce replying to the list even though, as Fred notes, this is WAY off topic.
Wow, does that still exist? I gave up on it YEARS ago. Audacity is far better at removing clicks and pops, splitting into tracks and exporting to FLAC. It also does a great job removing tape hiss.
As for removing thumps - No way I know of to do that. Audacity might be able to reduce the thump by using a high-pass filter set to roll off at 30 or 40 hz, but I don't think it can be taken completely out.
One of the really annoying things I remember about GWC was how it reacted to music featuring a bass trombo...

Don''t Shout at your JBODs

I wonder if the inverse is true. If I whisper soothing
words of encouragement at my JBODs, will I get
more IOPS with reduced latency?

Pluralization rules?
Is there documentation somewhere on how RoR handles pluralization? I''m
finding it head-scratching/table-thumping.
I''m playing with converting an old PHP app to RoR. I used to have a
table called "status_code" which was referenced by column "status". I
converted the "status" column to "status_id" and the table to
"statuses",

FW: Network Magazine 04/04/04 Article pg 19 (Free IP Telephony PBXs?)
The networkmag@cmp.com appears to be broken. I dug around the magazine
contacts and found Doug Allen, senior editor, you can send comments to
dallen2@cmp.com . I didn't get a bounce back from that e-mail so I assume
it made it to the editor.

ov_open_callbacks() performance & memory requirements
Hi guys,
I'm writing a sample playback engine using vorbisfile, but I've hit a
performance problem - hoping someone here can help!
I'm using ov_open_callbacks() to decode memory-based ogg files. It works
OK, but when I call ov_open_callbacks() approximately 300k of memory is
used (presumably to initialise the decoder). It also takes some time to
execute ov_open_callbacks() - the read

This isn't something you have to "feel", it's something you could
_measure_? far more precisely than anyone could hope to hear.

On the "broken" .WAV files issue
A friend of mine recently had a problem with a "broken" .WAV file
(as you call them) because oggenc first printed out a warning and
then didn't accept the file because of a "unexpected EOF error".
Because I was interested in the issue, I decided to take a look at
the oggenc source, and in fact, it is your .WAV reader that's wrong.
More precisely: there are two version

How to interrupt a loop by pressing a key?
Hello,
Does anyone know a way of interrupting a loop by pressing a key (besides
ctrl-c)?
My problem is the following:
I have a machine acquiring data and saving text files into a directory.
I have an R script that read those files, process them and plots the
results.
What I would like to do is: process the data as the files appear in the
folder (I've done that do with a loop that checks

3510 JBOD ZFS vs 3510 HW RAID
Hi there
Is it fair to compare the 2 solutions using Solaris 10 U2 and a commercial database (SAP SD scenario).
The cache on the HW raid helps, and the CPU load is less... but the solution costs more and you _might_ not need the performance of the HW RAID.
Has anybody with access to these units done a benchmark comparing the performance (and with the pricelist in hand) came to a conclusion.

Newbie question ... fallback mounts
Attached is my config file. The purpose is to interrupt my regular
stream sith a station (stream) ID once per hour (time synchronized
externally).
I use ezstream to play the pre-recorded stream ID.
I never hear the stream ID while listening to the stream. (There is a
10 second break in the stream once per hour) What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Microsoft Office 2007 and Wine only
First off before I delve into the purpose of this thread I want to lay down a few ground rules. This thread is only about MS OFFICE 2007 (OFFICE 12) and Wine. No Exceptions!
To break it down further I don't want any information about the following alternatives which I know work, but defeat the purpose.
No talk of:
Open Office (Ooo)
MS OFFICE 2000, XP or 2003
CrossOver Office

DNS Updates after upgrade
Hello everybody,
last weeks I started upgrading our DC from Centos 7 to Centos 8. After
having read this
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Upgrading_a_Samba_AD_DC#Updating_Multiple_Samba_Domain_Controllers)
and especially this "Joining a DC to domain can be a troublesome process
for some users, and it can be difficult to recover your DC if something
goes wrong". I really looked forward

Tired of dropouts and garbled phone calls - where to go next?
All,
The users in our organization are well, quite frankly, sick of phone
service that is being provided. The choppy phone calls, and drop outs are
detrimental to our sales force.
I've tried about everything I can think of.
Moved the asterisk server from VM machine to dedicated machine
More than enough bandwidth
Setting 802.1p = 7
Set Dedicated voice traffic 35% of bandwidth.

Spill over
List
I need some help, advice or just a starting point on the following
situation:
Link A - 64kbps leased line
Link B - 512kbps ADSL line
Is it possible to have Link A saturated constantly and have the excess
traffic "spill over" onto Link B? I know it''s possible to have packets sent
down links in a round-robin fashion and I''ve read in the howto on load
