nchar on data.frames
I don't understand why nchar() gives different string lengths for vectors
in a list than it does for vectors in a dataframe. Here's a snippet of
code:
> temp <- list(text=c("thug","jimbob","apple","thug"),numbers=1:4)
> nchar(temp$text)
[1] 4 6 5 4
> temp <- data.frame(temp)
> nchar(temp$text)
[1] 1 1 1 1

Multiple ecdf plots?
I have a csv file that has approximately 50k rows. In the first value of
each row, a file name is listed, and there are 162 different file names. At
the end of each row, there is a number value. What I would like to be able
to do is for the 162 different files (or we could call them categories), is
compute the ecdf for the values within that category. Then plot the ecdf
for each file on the

Patches for building of flac 1.2.1
Hello,
We use two different patches to build flac.
The first one is a patch that detects correctly ranlib, ac, strip when
you cross-compile. We especially use the patch when compiling for
Windows under GNU/Linux.

The other one fixes an issue when compiling for Windows under Cygwin,
that can't find

Define storage pool on NFS, mounted from fstab
Good day.
We've got a question, as there's a need to mount NFS over RDMA.
How we should define a pool on an already mounted NFS folder? The pool must
be "shared" for all KVM nodes for live migration purposes.
Thanks in advance.

Status of conference calls at Astricon ?
On late august, there was a thread about
setting up some meetme conferences to
be able to follow Astricon remotely.
This indeed could be nice for those
that can't attend for various reason.
And of course is a demonstration of
Asterisk capabilities... :)
(Astricon without a remote conference
for guest is like a big it expo without
internet connections...)
I have some bandwidth here, so can

Is there a non-parametric repeated-measures Anova in R ?
Hello Prof. Harrell and dear R-help mailing list,
I wish to perform a non-parametric repeated measures anova.
If what I read online is true, this could be achieved using a mixed Ordinal
Regression model (a.k.a: Proportional Odds Model).
I found two packages that seems relevant, but couldn't find any vignette on
the subject:

...cking people of all sorts! Did you know
that many young African American women refuse to date African
American males if they do not own or possess an automobile. In
fact many young Black women prefer only to date individuals who
represent the subversive side of society; commonly known as
"Thugs" or "Street Hustlers;" Also, did you know that many young
African American males prefer to buy expensive luxury cars while
living in government housing better known as the "projects"
rather than move away, purchase new homes, save, or even make
investments?
