package: ignores "source"; "provider" doesn''t work as advertised?
Hi
I¹m not sure if I¹m misunderstanding, however, when I try the following:
class thttpd {
package { thttpd:
version => "2.25b-4.2",
source =>
"http://dag.wieers.com/packages/thttpd/thttpd-2.25b-4.2.el4.rf.i386.rpm"
}
[snip other code]
}
On fedora core 5, the ³source² is ignored: yum is used to pull the package

Captive Portal with Shorewall
.
"Saluton",
Sorry by my poor english, I speak Portuguese.
I does a captive portal using:
- shorewall
- dhcpd
- thttpd (in port 8080)
- maradns
With Shorewall I use dinamic zones.
The initial zone in shorewall is
configured to redirects access to
internal thttpd port 8080, that
shows a login.cgi page.
With thttpd I rewrite original url.
The apache rewrite is very cool, but
thttpd configuration is very simple,
a...

Survey: what's the best HTTPd/TFTPd/FTPd to serve up configuration files to sets
I would like to start a discussion centred around the various ways one
might serve up configuration files from an Asterisk server (I know, it's
better to use a secondary server for all this, but let's talk about a
smaller system).
The types of things being served would include:
- Logo image for sets that support that
- XML directory files
- XML or raw text configuration files

WebGUI Scripts announcement
...ations: it depends on your point of view...)
* the GUI is made of shell scripts -- no other programming language, no
extra software to install (well, system utilities only)

as sh-httpd (shell based as well), mini-httpd, thttpd, and - of course -
apache
* the web server doesn''t need to be root in order to get write privileges to
Shorewall files
* .htaccess ready
* edit Shorewall main configuration files, executes Shorewall commands
(start, stop, restart, status, ...)
* shows system/Shorewall logs

Question on syncing my local repo
...t did this with the -n option
and not the -u option and noticed a lot of rpms to be downloaded for the
base. I then added the -u and only one rpm.
So this question is: when using rsync to mirror the base and update
repos, should the -u option be used?
Next for the web server. I tried to use thttpd, thinking I just needed
a httpd server on this box to dish out the repos. But thttpd seems to
refuse to use symlinks (I have the repos on their own partition), so I
fell back to good old apache (running everything at default with a
symlink to /repo/centos).
So this question is: what is availa...

running icecast and a webserver on same port
...e output
of CGI scripts, so you don't get a "clean" copy of Icecast's output.
Certain players don't mind the extra headers (foobar2000 on Windows, and
ogg123), but others (Winamp and Windows Media Player) get confused and
will refuse to play the stream. With other web servers (thttpd is one I've
tried) that don't add any headers to the output of CGI scripts, it seems
to work quite well, however.
2. Since traffic on port 80 is sometimes proxied/cached (based on the
assumption that it's normal web traffic) at the other end, there's a

The community
It occurred to me over the last few days that in fact I hadn''t been a
model ShoreWall Citizen so I went to the site and visited this link for
inspiration:
http://www.cityofshoreline.com/about/history/index.html
Here I was reminded of just how open source communities are suppose to
work. Just like the early beginnings of Shoreline, Tom has brought
together many scattered settlements

[Atcom] Asterisk + LAMP on 128MB RAM?
Hello
I'm thinking of selling an Asterisk server based on Atcom's IP02
solid-state unit with one FXO and one FXS ports:
http://atcom.cn/En_products_IP02.htm
By default, this unit based on a 400MHz Blackfin 532 chip only has
64MB RAM and 256MB of NAND flash. Those can be increased to 128MB and
1GB, respectively.
Do you think I can install Linux + Asterisk + LAMP (replacing MySQL

which webserver to use in production?
Apologies in advance if this ignites a war of comflicting opinions....
I''m a few days away from going live with my first RoR application. It
is completely database centric and each user will have his own queries
so cacheing will not really help.
I have a dedicated linux server being built by my hosting provider and I
need to tell them which webserver to use. The databse is MySQL
