Issue when calling deparse(substitute(x)) from C with "anonymous" R vectors ?
...itute(y)) in the R code. What seems to be happening is that the deparse(substitute(x)) call gives a character vector of length > 1 as soon as x is "not so small". To demonstrate this, I am using rpy2 (as the problem was found when using it http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=4B043CA1.9050500%40salilab.org&forum_name=rpy-list ), but it will likely be present in other bridges to R as well. #using R-2.10 and rpy2-2.1.dev >>> import rpy2.robjects as robjects >>> f = robjects.r('''function(x) return(deparse(substitute(x)))''...

Asterisk SIP attacks and sshguard
...t work right, quite possibly because I don't often work in LEX/YACC. I submitted a request to the sshguard guys suggesting new rules. http://www.sshguard.net/support/submission/detail/49ce7182028d8b6f3e3d/ and on their mailing list, a little more: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=F4E10075-5D93-43B4-B73A-1FD217BE130D%40sshguard.net&forum_name=sshguard-users In particular, they're looking for log examples of some of those messages, but I have no idea how to generate the conditions that would cause these messages. I'm also not sure if there's a way to disabl...

Non-free packages in CRAN
Hello. This is in relation to the discussion below: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=CAPHS2gwmxJGF9Cy8%3DSEGasQcVRg_Lqu-ndCdVhO-r1LJsRQGuA%40mail.gmail.com&forum_name=octave-dev If this is the wrong place to discuss this issue, I would be thankful for a redirection to the appropriate forum. As Henrik says, R or some organisation that acts in R's name, has accepted his non...

time variable throttling rsync traffic
I am using rsync to back up across a VPN. Unfortunately, every so often the home office miscreants drop a big block of data into the backup and that particular backup cycle takes many hours. These same people also complain when net pipe is filled during the day. What I need is an ability to change the bwlimit based on time of day. Any suggestions as to how to do this?

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 6936] New: rsync silently fails to preserve uid/gid of -1
..."stat" can sometimes return a uid or gid of -1. Since the "chown" syscall takes -1 to mean "don't change this field", rsync silently fails to preserve the source ownership. This problem came up on the rsnapshot list: https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=1259202707.2009.382.camel%40mattlaptop2.local&forum_name=rsnapshot-discuss Rsync should issue an FERROR_XFER in this case. I was inclined to have the receiving side do it because the limitation is in the receiving side's chown call, but it also looks like -1 has a special meaning to the u...

Findings on pre-NV50 miptree layout
I wrote a tool for automatically finding out the texture layout for Gallium drivers. You can find it attached to http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=ff13bc9a1001081140y18450c3ejdfac25c9260fd367%40mail.gmail.com&forum_name=mesa3d-dev . Here are the findings from running it. The result is that our miptree layout code is partially broken, and overly complex. In particular: 1. 3D textures are broken because they are not laid out like cube maps...

oslec + dahdi
Hi list, I install dahdi-linux successfully with the module of oslec for the echo, but when I specify it in the system.conf the echo canceller oslec it shows me errors: DAHDI_ATTACH_ECHOCAN failed on channel 4: Invalid argument (22) I see that the echo cancellers is supported: mg2, kb1, sec2, and sec because oslec is not supported?, but he has support to compile it with dahdi_linux! best

HPEC performance
Does this make a significant improvement? The box in question I was going to try this with has a 4 port TDM card w/ plenty of horsepower, but I do intend to later migrate to a Soekris unit running Astlinux and therefore might not have the power to run it after. If the difference is significant, I may move to an ITX board so I could use a bigger CPU, but only if the hassle is worthwhile. Any

How to change Rlapack by lapack (for rpy2 installation)?
(I asked an earlier question on the rpy2 installation to the rpy2 list, the solution there was to edit the setup.py script, but this looks beyond what I can do unless someone tells me exactly what to modify). I have R 2.8.1 on 2 machines running ubuntu 8.04 (packages R-base and R-base-dev, among others, installed using Synaptic) and while the installation of rpy2 went fine on machine1, failed on

Is -R --link-dest really hard to use, or is it me?
I've got a problem for which the combination of -R and --link-dest doesn't seem to be quite enough---and I may have discovered a few small bugs as well; test cases are below. [And if someone has a scheme for doing this that doesn't involve rsync at all, but works okay, I'm all ears as well---I'm not the first with this problem.] Here's my problem: I unfortunately need to
