[PATCH] Bootstrap ocaml/.depend more thoroughly
Although I haven't experienced a specific problem with bootstrapping an empty .depend file, this commit bootstraps it properly using ocamldep. This may or may not solve any real problem, but it's quite simple and more obviously correct. --- bootstrap | 2 +- ocaml/Makefile.am | 10 +++------- ocaml/Makefile.depend | 6 ++++++ 3 files changed, 10

Dovecot source code audit
...ovecot is a POP and IMAP mailserver; it is used in 68% of IMAP server deployments worldwide. The audit was performed by Cure53. The team found the following problems: ? 3 Low The Cure53 team were extremely impressed with the quality of the dovecot code. They wrote: "Despite much effort and thoroughly all-encompassing approach, the Cure53 testers only managed to assert the excellent security-standing of Dovecot. More specifically, only three minor security issues have been found in the codebase, thus translating to an exceptionally good outcome for Dovecot, and a true testament to the fact tha...

[LLVMdev] Any objections to my importing GoogleMock to go with GoogleTest in LLVM?
I have some concrete use cases in testing the pass manager where it will allow the tests of this API to be more thorough, less verbose, and easier to maintain. I'm not claiming to be the biggest fan of some features in GoogleMock, but on the whole, I think it's better than the alternative and will allow more careful testing of C++ APIs where the interesting part is the API itself. -------------- next part ---...

Do you ALWAYS use "bundle exec rspec spec" tests?
...t testing is a very necessary part of development. As I go through the rest of this tutorial, I will continue to test when instructed. That said, how essential are the "bundle exec rspec spec" tests in most real world apps? My reasons for possibly not using them or not using them as thoroughly as the tutorial does: 1. I still feel more comfortable testing by accessing my web site in the browser and trying things out as if I were one of my users. 2. Creating the tests does add to the workload. 3. Garbage in -> garbage out: If you don''t write the proper tests, your resul...

Why is yum not liked by some?
I have seen messages posted on the Fedora oriented forums that imply that "yum" is antiquated. Not being a Linux guru, I do not have the experience to make a thorough evaluation, but so far it has been just great. Todd -- Ariste Software 200 D Street Ext Petaluma, CA 94952 (707) 773-4523

How to get the count of matching documents
I''m trying to generate a rails pagination helper for some ferret search results, and I need to know how many total matches there are to my search query. I don''t see an obvious way of finding this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Carl Youngblood

[PATCH] PCI: Reprogram bridge prefetch registers on resume
...for PCI bridges (regardless of their current value), while retaining the existing restore order (high to low) over all registers and doing the read-then-maybe-write thing for all of the other regs (per current behaviour). Then we also consider swiftly applying a followup patch implementing a more thorough approach and we give it some time in linux-next before releasing in Linux 4.20 which does something more thorough. I think perhaps more discussion is needed there, or at least some more input from Bjorn. Seems like we have 3 approaches to consider: 1. Peter Wu suggests following what windows does....

Note of praise
I don''t mean to litter the mailing list with junk, but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who''s been working on rspec for this release. I particularly like your attention to natural language and thorough documentation/examples. I''m not at the point yet where I can contribute much to the code side of things, but if there were a donate button I would use it. Scrabble??
Does anyone know a way to run a Scrabble program on CentOS? (I realize the obvious existence of Wine and of virtual machines; but my experience with both has been thoroughly unsatisfactory. So I'd much rather get a linux-native app.) There seem to be two proprietary Scrabble programs, one in which you play against the computer, and one in which you play against a remote friend. The latter is what I'm being asked for by Her Who Must Be Obeyed. (I...
