Gems on Ruby forge
I downloaded the gems from rubyforge, but they are a couple of revs
back. What''s the reasoning behind this?
I''m no expert, but would be willing to keep rubyforge updated if needed.

perl updates always break perl programs, how to fix?
...rl updates too. Sorry I realize this could also be
classified as a perl question -- but I'm hopeful other centos admins found a
way to get their centos back into compliance with the yum updates.
Thanks,

Backward compatibility issues in 0.24.0
...problem. This
is kinda hackish, since why upgrade to 0.23.3 if you can just go all
the way to 0.24.0? That being said, it might assuage some people''s
concerns.
What do people think should be done?

Thanks for the advice,

linux bridging problem: how to emulate 2 separate interfaces on a single one?
Hi all.
I would need to use a single physical interface on a Linux box to manage
two different IP addresses (belonging to two separate logical subnets)
with two different MAC address. (I need to emulate te presence of two
separate physical interfaceses for a PC on the same LAN, at layer 2 and
layer 3).
Is it possible to use the linux ethernet bridging code and two tap
interfaces for this

Best practise guide
Hi,
I''m a new puppet user (thanks !) and I''m just looking at moving my
homegrown manifest structure into something resembling the best practise
guide at :
http://www.reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/PuppetBestPractice. It
seems as if the structure here doesn''t map to the default puppet layout
(and thus doesn''t work with the standard puppet config

cron and name with ''.''
I dont know if i am missleaded but it seems to me that the cron type
does not accept names with a ''.'' in it ? I tried to add a cron with a
name cron1-$domainename and it does not accept it. If i remove the ''.''
in the domain it work. I am using .22.3 anyone seeing the same behavior
? If yes i will fill it as a bug.

Guest-domain has no login
Hi *,
as this is my first post I want to say hello to everybody.
Well, and unfortunatly I''ve already got a question for you:
I''ve installed a guest domain (OS: CentOS 4) on my xen-machine and
it''s para-virtualised (just to provide the information ;) ).
After the installation and mount the image containing the guest to copy
the necessary modules for the xen-kernel,

Samba and LDAP backend - howto docs problems?
Hi all,
I have followed the instructions at
http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/man/passdb.html in an attempt to
set up a Samba v3.0.2 (supplied by Redhat as part of RHEL v3.0) PDC.
I have got as far as trying to get a windows 2k box to join this new
domain that I have created, however this fails with the error "Logon
failure: unknown user name or password".
Samba itself logs
