ThinkStation with BIOS RAID and disk error messages in gparted
My ThinkStation runs CentOS 7 which I installed on a BIOS RAID 0 setup with two identical 256 Gb SSDs after removing Windows. It runs fine but I just discovered in gparted something that does not seem right: - Launching gparted it complains "invalid argument during seek for red on /dev/md126" and when I...

ThinkStation with BIOS RAID and disk error messages in gparted
...nsidered a learning experience it is one I could have been without since I was also running a long job that had already run for 10 days and needed another four days to complete... Anyway, after googling and fiddling around I think I identified the culprit as the command line in grub menu. I have a ThinkStation where two identical SSDs are configured as RAID in BIOS (see above) and the grub command line has two rd.md.uuid= statements with the UUIDs of the two disks, further complicated by the fact that the disk is encrypted. After fiddling I discovered that if I removed the rd.md.uuid= statements in the...

ThinkStation with BIOS RAID and disk error messages in gparted

OT: workstation recommends: Thinkmate?
I'm looking to buy a new workstation, and it looks like Thinkmate makes what I need -- their vsx "virtually silent" variety. I hestitate because I wasn't happy with a laptop I bought a few years ago from a small outfit that sold Linux boxes exclusively. Does anyone have experience with Thinkmate, and in particular, the VSX line? If the later, is it really quiet. I run Centos

I have noticed that nouveau can recover if I shake the mouse during those three seconds, but it can't recover if I let the monitor power all the way down. Complete logs to follow.
