Samba running but stops working? Then no work after restart?
...logons occuring from win9x boxes. After about an hour of trying to get samba restarted I reluctantly took the server down and upon a reboot all is well again. I have no idea what would cause this, but having concern about the open processes after a sambs.sh stop I set a deadtime in the smb.conf thining perhaps these open connections are causing a resource problem in samba. Any thoughts welcome! -- Richard Nelson Try Something Without GPF's - - Not To Mention The Cost:) FreeBSD http://www.freebsd.org RedHat http://www.redhat.com Strong Supporter of Visual Tcl http://www.neur...

clipping off words inside a vector of strings
Hi, I have a vector of strings (class character) with 6 elements (length 6). I call it 'names'. "Graham Chapman" "John Cleese" "Terry Gilliam" "Eric Idle" "Terry Jones" "Michael Palin" And I want to turn it into another vector of strings called 'shortnames' with the same length. The new vector should look like:

...ing Xvfb (X virtual frame buffer). One problem that I have, though, is that all the fonts on my graphs get messed up. Anybody have any nija R commands to make all fonts look great? Anybody have any idea how to fix this? So far, no luck on Solaris or Linux making the Xvfb fonts look good. I was thining of sending an e-mail to the Xfree86 org people. Haven't seen anything helpful on google so far. 2. I really like the png solution that I have working, above, except for the fonts. Assumming that I can't get the virtual frame buffer working, I guess I can switch to bitmap devices. One...

...ive MS ADS DCs, or to 200x/XP clients in the absence of native MS ADS DCs. The issue is when you have native MS ADS DCs, because Samba doea not understand MS ADS DC-to-DC replication. Otherwise, the authentication process to clients is no different. But that's only authentication. Again, stop thining "aggregate," think naming, directory, authentication and file services individually.

Fw: an ordinal regression MCMC run high correlation
I tried thinning of the mcmc run with 500,000 iteration. It looks like 100 or 200 is enough to remove the autocorrelation of a1 and tau. Crash trying to start with ATI BigDesktop
I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 It's quite the eye-candy, and now my ultimate tool in pissing micro$hit user off! I had previously been using ATI's BigDesktop across two monitors. When I tried this with Xgl and Compiz it bombed out during startup. I couldn't spot anything different in my Xorg.94.log file either. Is it possible to get BigDesktop

[LLVMdev] the getelementptr noop problem
so i confess i'm still not clear on what the first index into getelementptr is all about. it makes perfect sense for an example like getelementptr %mystruct * %reg100 to just return a %mystruct * equivalent to %reg100. it does *not* make sense to me that getelementptr %mystruct * %reg100, uint 0 should act the same. for look, what this speaks of to me is indexing the first element in an

files over 2 GB in size?
Is there a way in samba to create files greater then 2GB in size? I'm tarring some stuff to a samba share (from one linux server to another, share mounted using smbmount) and I get an error "File size limit exceeded" and the size of the file is 2147483647 bytes. Is there anyway to create files larger then 2GB on a samba mounted share? If so, how?

[LLVMdev] Directory and library rename:
By request, I've renamed lib/CodeGen/PreSelection to lib/CodeGen/PreOpts (admittedly this was my choice :-), and the corresponding archive from preselect to preopt. If you see linker errors saying preselect.o is not found, this is the reason. This shouldn't happen if you update your entire tree at once. --Vikram

Large Database with lots of tables
Hello all, I am a rails nuby and I am evaluating using Rails for a new web application. The application will have a large number of tables (>70) that will basically mimic a large collection of paper forms that user would otherwise have to fill out. From what I have read on rails thus far it seems I would have to create a lot of models and form templates. Is this common and if so does
