...takes control of file1.xls and saves it. User1 is then given a chance to overwrite user2's changes to file1.xls, or rename. But user1's control and ability to save file2.doc has been lost with the kill -15 {user1pid}.
In windows, you just go and release the file from the little gui mouse thinger for windows shares (I get confused when I have to use a mouse and gui thinger.) Is there a gui mouse thinger (or command) to only release a file instead of an entire user for a samba shared file?
Thanks for your help!

Grandstream Budgetone BT-101 audio problems
...elays it another 24 hours.
So. That pretty much covers it. Only three of the phones are doing
this, and they only started a few days ago. They were working *fine*
for months! Does anyone have any ideas here? I'm about ready to throw
these phones into a tree shredder.
Thanks!

Broadvoice-like company in Canada?
Hey folks,
I am looking for a no frills bring-your-own-SIP device VOIP company
similar to Broadvoice.
Does anyone have any experience with VOIP in Canada?

MS Access, Endnote, among others
Hello,
Has anybody been able to successfully install MS Office XP Pro in Wine? I
don't care much about the whole suite, I need MS Access, but since I have
a bundled cd, I don't have much choice. Apparently several folks have had
similar problems in this list, and I haven't found solutions. Wine-version
is 0.0.20041201-1 Debian unstable package.
I'm not sure I'm starting the

Am I attempting the impossible?
...work in a terminal server environment? Will I need
separate installs in each user's home directories, or will some clever
symlinks save the day? How do native Windows 98SE DLLs like being
accessed simultaneously? Am I nuts for even trying?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

able to get rid of Windows on all our machines here. Access is the only
thing stopping me from rolling Linux out to all our desktops. Grr. Access.
Grr.
To sum up, my setup is:

- Wine 20041019
- WineTools 2.11jo
Thanks in advance,

(fwd from uke@jeremy.org) thanks and patch
Jeremy,
I'm glad you like rsync.
Why does your encryption program not produce a file of the same size
every time it is run on the same input? I can see what the patch
does, but I'm having a bit of trouble understanding whether it would
be generally useful.

We have and here are my impressions.
We configured an Asterisk in the office as a precaution to see how it
would work for our own retail customers. Our office is open space, about
800 sq ft. (20x40 area). We use Snom200 and Grandstream SIP phones.

Getting Samba 3 to communicate with Win2k3 ADS
I'm having a *terrible* time trying to get Samba 3 to communicate with my
Windows 2003 Active Directory Server (the primary and only domain on my
network). Basically this is what I'm trying to do: create a Linux File
Server to replace my old WinNT 4 File Server. I would like it to show up
under all my XP clients on network neighborhood just like the old server,
with each account on my
