Samba running but stops working? Then no work after restart?
Greetings, I have a FreeBSD 3.1 and Samba 2.0.5a box doing domain logons and file sharing to about 250+ desktops and upgraded about 21 days ago I have encountered something very interesting. Win9x boxes can no longer login. So , I examine the problem and it appears that things are ok but none of the things samba is supposed to be doing is happening. Again this box serves many operations on

Vonage and * (and what about those ATAs?)
...ot;. Considering that sending them back will probably cost me $10, I can keep my two used ATA186s for $50/each. I don't like having to pay for the "free ATA" that was advertised, but I don't think I'll be able to get two working ATAs for the same price anywhere else. Vonage, thine days are numbered. On the up-side, I got my RH9 system set up with Asterisk (CVS 4/28), one SIP phone, IAXTel and FWD. Amazingly trouble-free installation, except for the choppy voice-mail prompts (I know, no zaptel card yet). Asterisk rocks, but I'm sure you people know that. Now off to ord...

Dialplan help - MeetMe and call monitoring
Hi guys, I need to realize a sort of automatic call monitoring dialplan. This is exactly what I need: - A user originate a call - When the call is bridged (or just before) I need to invite automatically a third party to the conversation that should hear the audio channel but not speak (it's a monitoring application for a callcenter) The person in charge of monitoring cannot use ChanSpy or

clipping off words inside a vector of strings
Hi, I have a vector of strings (class character) with 6 elements (length 6). I call it 'names'. "Graham Chapman" "John Cleese" "Terry Gilliam" "Eric Idle" "Terry Jones" "Michael Palin" And I want to turn it into another vector of strings called 'shortnames' with the same length. The new vector should look like:

Autogenerated png, bitmap images
I have two questions - 1. I am trying to create R png graphs via cron. I have this part working using Xvfb (X virtual frame buffer). One problem that I have, though, is that all the fonts on my graphs get messed up. Anybody have any nija R commands to make all fonts look great? Anybody have any idea how to fix this? So far, no luck on Solaris or Linux making the Xvfb fonts look good. I was

Re: Fix passwd/shadow/group files? -- network architecture is always piecemeal
From: Feizhou > I know what a Kerberos authentication system is. > You mean a core component in Samba 3.0's functionality as an ADS client. You're still artificially limiting your understanding. Kerberos (with the MS extensions in the case of 200x/XP) is how objects authenticate each other and grant tickets for access in a Kerberos realm. Samba can use Kerberos how it sees fit.

Fw: an ordinal regression MCMC run high correlation
I tried thinning of the mcmc run with 500,000 iteration. It looks like 100 or 200 is enough to remove the autocorrelation of a1 and tau. issue plotting TukeyHSD
Hello, When I try to use TukeyHSD in the following way it shows the confidence interval corresponding to the last factor only. > throughput.aov <- aov(Throughput~No_databases+Partitioning+No_middlewares+Queue_size,data=throughput) plot(TukeyHSD(throughput.aov)) # I expected here to see the confidence intervals for all factors but see only the last. Crash trying to start with ATI BigDesktop
I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 It's quite the eye-candy, and now my ultimate tool in pissing micro$hit user off! I had previously been using ATI's BigDesktop across two monitors. When I tried this with Xgl and Compiz it bombed out during startup. I couldn't spot anything different in my Xorg.94.log file either. Is it possible to get BigDesktop

files over 2 GB in size?
Is there a way in samba to create files greater then 2GB in size? I'm tarring some stuff to a samba share (from one linux server to another, share mounted using smbmount) and I get an error "File size limit exceeded" and the size of the file is 2147483647 bytes. Is there anyway to create files larger then 2GB on a samba mounted share? If so, how?

[LLVMdev] Directory and library rename:
By request, I've renamed lib/CodeGen/PreSelection to lib/CodeGen/PreOpts (admittedly this was my choice :-), and the corresponding archive from preselect to preopt. If you see linker errors saying preselect.o is not found, this is the reason. This shouldn't happen if you update your entire tree at once. --Vikram

Large Database with lots of tables
Hello all, I am a rails nuby and I am evaluating using Rails for a new web application. The application will have a large number of tables (>70) that will basically mimic a large collection of paper forms that user would otherwise have to fill out. From what I have read on rails thus far it seems I would have to create a lot of models and form templates. Is this common and if so does
