Make functions aware of theyr own slots.
Hello,
Is there a way to access function's slots from inside the function? I
want to make functions slot dependent without recurring to generic
function mechanism.
Probably this goes a bit against R philosophy, but otherwise I don't
really see the use of extending functions in R.
Would be nice to have something like:

Question about quota configuration
...modify postfix->procmail->dovecot config
in a way that if user is over quota mail delivery is delayed instead of
bouncing.
(is this possible?)
Second thing i would like to achive is that when authenticated users close
to quota/group quota for example 10MB to quota limit
try sending email theyr mail is rejected and preferably an email is
generated telling them to free some space for new mails first.
(is such a thing possible?)
MS Exchange servers have such a feature and I would like to get such a
functionality on my linux mailserver
I'm trying to prevent a situation when mails are lo...

Timeout when downloading messages
Hi to All Gurus,
Im having some problem with my mail server. Sending works perfectly but the problem is when my clients are receiving theyre mails. For example theyre downloading 20 mails, somehow when it reaches to 12 it disconnectes. Or the outlook client pops up some messages saying connection timeout? bad CF disks, etc
...from chain.c32
chain.c32 is not to blame, as bios also gives similar error
> boot 80
No Boot device available, enter monitor.
all 3 CFs are readable/writable on my desktop
after fiddling with various fdisk parameters,
I dd'd the image off the 512, and put it on both the other 2 CFs
but theyre still unbootable.
Any suggestions on how to save these CFs from the scrap heap ?
I considered hacking some printfs into chain.c32, but failure of BIOS
made it seem pointless (though Im prepared to change my mind...)
Any specific param vals to print which might point towards solution ?

packages for etch lagging behind :(
how come only 1 out of 3 versions of wine actually gets built for etch?
i mean i understand that the packages get built by different people so theyre not updated synchronously but ubuntu, suse, mandriva etc are all up to date at 0.9.60, whereas the latest etch package ist version 0.9.58, TWO versions behind !!! no fair!
i mean cmon! debian is just as mainstream as the rest of em, so give us a lil dignity!

how to reset home directory ACLs?
...the copy.
If I check ACL permissions of those RO files I see they don't have the
permission for the user that is supposed to be the owner.
is there a way I can recursively and easily fix ACLs on the homes
folders and subfolders?
maybe a new rsync run with some other parameter to fix acls as theyre
supposed to be in destination?
any clue?
thanks in advance for your suggestions

Why the as.integer() representation? I later pass the result into this
write.html.table(), and what I get is rows of as.integer()... when all I
want is the integer itself.
as.integer(31) as.integer(21)

HP Proliant DL360 G7
Hello,
Has anyone out there been able to qualify the Proliant DL360 G7 for your Solaris/OI/Nexenta environments? Any pros/cons/gotchas (vs. previous generation HP servers) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

what is wine good for?
...give up. wine is unusable. period. dont want to say it is a piece of crap because of all the hard work that is behind, but it is irritating to say the least.
seriously guys why waste your time ? i've never managed to make something useful with it and i tried hard. nor all the geeks i know and theyre a legion. there are excellent native linux apps that cover nearly every imaginable need . if you want wine for a game, chances are it wont work at all, work real bad or transform a game in an annoying loss of time. plus, things that worked keep turning back unusable with new versions. who cares...

Running MetaTrader 4 in Wine
Metatrader 4 ( http://www.metaquotes.net/ ) do run in Wine but is not fully compatible ie not all function are working. I wish future Wine will enable Metatrader 4 to run properly.
Another wish list is for Wine to incorporate a "File Explorer" that will show the "C:\" directory instead of having to work with the complicate Linux directory.

Need some help
Hello,
I would like to ask for some specialist assistance in dissecting a
'rootkit' (seems to be massmailing specific, crafted somehow from
another kit perhaps)
It was found running on 5.x machines belonging (sofar) to my
knowledge, 2 companies, one of wich was an isp and another a webhosting
service running bsd.
I will provide the kit and further details as soon as i am sure the

[Bug 554] Packet illegaly bypassing SNAT
...dresses on the Internet for your internal NAT'ed NICs.
So, go to your ppp/eth device connected to the Internet and clamp MSS to a value
as 1412. In Debian (and maybe other *nix'es) you can do this way:
pty pppoe -I eth0 -T80 -m 1412
Since eth0 is you _internal_ network and you should clamp theyr packets.

sam-fs on zfs-pool
Hi list,
I''ve did some tests and run into a very strange situation..
I created a zvol using "zfs create -V" and initialize an sam-filesystem
on this zvol.
After that I restored some testdata using a dump from another system.
So far so good.
After some big troubles I found out that releasing files in the
sam-filesystem doesn''t create space on the underlying zvol.
