kerberos nfs4's principals and root access
Hello samba team !
I have some NFS4 exports managed by a Samba's Kerberos realm. All the
standard user accesses work fine.
I try now to setup an NFS4 root access to administer the share from
another server (the two host are DC, one PDC and one SDC). But I have
trouble understanding the kerberos/principals layer.

- in general, dont give Administrator a UID/GID
- in general, dont use Administrator for ssh logins, but thats a choice, beter is, create a new user, and give that one admin rights.
And have a look in to this script, works good on wheezy.
https://secure.bazuin.nl/scripts/these_are_experimental_scripts/setup-nfsv4-kerberos.sh
last.
With above you can login without a password, but no tgt ticket is generated.
for fix that, add "kinit -f -p" in the bashrc

kerberos nfs4's principals and root access
Hai,
I had it the other way around. Only root acces.
I have scripted my setup and tested on debian.
Look here
https://secure.bazuin.nl/scripts/these_are_experimental_scripts/
setup-nfsv4-kerberos.sh
If you get the file, setup-nfsv4-kerberos.sh and compair it to your setup.
If you can read the bash script maybe you see something you missed.
When i write as "root" its root and not the machine account who owns the file.
How is your exports file on the s...

...oth server these UPNs.
nfs/${SETFQDN} ${SETHOSTNAME_CAPS}$
nfs/${SETFQDN}@${SAMBA_KERBEROS_REALM} ${SETHOSTNAME_CAPS}$
on the samba side the nfs spn is in you keytab file?
and if your brave, read, * dont run it, since i did not test this with windows servers.
https://secure.bazuin.nl/scripts/these_are_experimental_scripts/
check the setup-nfsv4-kerberos.sh script, tested in a samba4 only setup, on debian (wheezy and jessie)
and its not quite finished, i think..

Samba 4 and MS Windows NFS Server (2012R2) - Update
Hi again,
I just started to debug things on the samba4 side:
When trying to mount the Windows NFS share, I get the following error on
the samba4 dc (just grepping for nfs in the logs):
auth_check_password_send: Checking password for unmapped user [S5DOM.TEST]\[nfs/nfsclient.mydom.test]@[]
map_user_info_cracknames: Mapping user [MYDOM.TEST]\[nfs/nfsclient.mydom.test] from workstation []
