Samba PDC - Samba Member Server
...shares on the PDC as
expected.
Trying to use the shares on the member server fails completely. I've been using SBE
and TOSHARG pdfs as references. I guess I've overlooked something.
On the Member Server:
wbinfo -t ;works
wbinfo -u ;works
wbinfo -g ;works
smbclient //member/share1 -Umyuser%thepassword fails with
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
On the SAMBA PDC:
smbclient //pdcname/share2 -Umyuser%thepassword works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Playback of URL Authenticated Stream in Browser
...Since the username and password are
system-generated and unique to each subscriber, I'm not concerned about
passing the username and password in the URL for the Icecast server

Embedding the following URL in my HTML5 audio player works in Safari and
Firefox:
http://theusername:thepassword at myicecastserver.com/my-mount-point
However, this method doesn't work in Chrome or Internet Explorer because
these browsers don't support passing the username and password in the URL.
(If I embed a mount URL in Chrome or Internet Explorer without
authentication it works just fine so I kn...

The SambaSID value for the LDAP account was copied from the

Bug#776094: dovecot-imapd: corrupts mailbox after trying to retrieve it (fwd)
...mail, becomes corrupted after
trying to retrieve it with fetchmail.
The problem may be reproduced by using the same machine as server and client:
* Put "inbox-b" in $HOME/mail
* Put this in $HOME/.fetchmailrc
server localhost proto imap port 143:
user "someuser"
pass "thepassword"
* Retrieve email using this command line:
fetchmail -a localhost --folder inbox-b -m "true"
Note: By looking at the "true" above it is clear that whatever
fetchmail does with the message is not important at all.

what is the correct password file format?
...4.1, the one included in Centos 4.3).
I get this error:
dovecot-auth: passwd-file(user@domail): unknown user
even if user@domain exists:
auth_userdb = passwd-file /etc/imap.virtual_users
auth_passdb = passwd-file /etc/imap.virtual_users
-bash-3.00# cat /etc/imap.v_users
user@domain:{DIGEST-MD5}thepassword:uid_value:gid_value::/absolute/path/to/virtual/mailboxes
why do I get this error? and what is the correct config format for this version of dovecot?
TIA,
Marco

Password authentication in a script
Greetings,
Here is my configuration: a rsync linux server, a rsync windows client.
I would like to run a rsync from windows in a .bat file.
The problem is that a password prompt is always shown.
I have read the archives and the man pages: i have create a rsyncd.secret like this:
rsync:thePassword
Here is my rsyncd.conf file:
[rsync]
path=/
uid=nobody
gid=nobody
auth users=rsync
secrets file=/etc/rsyncd.secret
Here is my batch file on windows:
rsync251-2 -e ssh -av rsync@192.168.1.2:/var/www/ e:\essai
I am always asked the password !
What is the problem ?
Thanks.

Samba DC to Samba NT4 Domain Trust
Hello! I'm trying to create a two way trust between a Samba DC and a Samba
NT4 domain both are 4.10.9. The issue I'm seeing is that while I can
establish a one way trust from the NT4 PDC to the DC using the following
commands;
net rpc trustdom add sambaad thepassword
net rpc trustdom establish sambaad
I enter the password for PDC$ and the trust is established.
When I go into Domains and Trusts and create a trust it fails to verify. I
then attempt to login to an account on NT4 domain named PDC and get the
following message.

winbindd with LDAPS
Thank you,
I've seen that commit. But even that seemed to be a STARTTLS inside a
plain ldap connection (389).

.conf for 2nd streem
I'm pretty sure it was in the default ices.conf, but I guess I deleted it.
How do I setup a 2nd stream? The first plays at 24k, I want same audio for a box on the local lan, so bandwidth is not an issue;
so either don't decode/reencode or re-encode at 300+K, or whatever the highest is.

Samba PDC group list empty
Dear samba users,
I have very strange problem. I have Samba PDC up and running, but only
thing is missing. I cannot see any Domain Groups at all.
Here is my config:
