updating for XSA-108 -
So... it is theorized that XSA-108 is why amazon is rebooting. Is there any way for me to know when this update hits CentOS5 or xen4centos6? Do we know that it is *not* included in one of the centos patches?

r square values for independent variables in multiple linear regr ession model -- newbie
Hello Could you please suggest a way to find out the r square values for each independent variable while using "lm" for developing a multiple linear regression model. Linux vs NT: a new test
Don't know how many ppl saw/read the following: http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/stories/news/0,4153,1015266,00.html One of the comments on Slashdot was the question as to how well 4.4lite would have done in the same tests, as they "theorize" that alot of the problems revolve around Linux's IP stack... Making requests in order
Hello all, This is an interesting problem I have been working on. What I have is a little multiuser project request tracking application. What happens is that I log in and create projects and assign people to the projects. Each project has steps associated with it, and the steps need to be done in a certain order. Now, I have to request that the assigned person perform each of the steps, and

* dialing before line is open?
...(usually from a speeddial on his phone, I think), he'll get some phone company message (from the outside) about how the call could not be completed as dialed or something like that. However, the logs (and the console) always show the correct dialed digits. Anyone have a similar symptom? I theorize that perhaps Asterisk picks up the line and starts dialing too quickly for our service occasionally. Is there a way that I could stick a delay before the digits are sent down the wire to test this theory? I checked out the wiki but didn't see much pertaining to this. I figure maybe you c...

OpenSSH 3.4p1 and OpenSSL
...t am I missing here? Should snoop have reported output even if it WAS or was NOT encrypted? How can I find out what version of the OpenSSL libraries are being used by the OpenSSH? How do I test OpenSSH to make sure it is using the OpenSSL libraries? What are the OpenSSL libraries used for? I have theorized (guessed) the following: OpenSSH provides a somewhat generic encrypted secure "tunnel or connection" between systems. OpenSSL provides a higher level or grade of encryption of the data being passed thru the "tunnel or connection" between the systems. I am planning on updating...

Namespaces and S4 Generics
I've installed R-devel R Under development (unstable) (2014-07-09 r66111) Platform: x86_64-apple-darwin13.1.0 (64-bit) and am trying to resolve some problems that I am seeing with my SparseM package. In prior versions I explicitly had: setGeneric("image", function(x, ...) standardGeneric("image")) and then used setMethod to define a method for the class matrix.csr but

How can I disable Rails 3.1's ActiveRecord Query Caching?
Hey guys, As most of you know, Rails 3.1 introduces query caching for ActiveRecord. Great change all-in-all, but for those of us with IT department mandates for using MySQL (yeah, yeah, I know...), it''s kind of a mixed bag. I need to disable query caching in a project I''m building based on 3.1. I''ve tried a couple different approaches, both without any success. I

So, either due to a bug or working as intended (or possibly, both), my lmtp protocol section is loading all $mail_plugins. Is it correct to theorize that if the file 20-lmtp.conf were to be renamed so that it was numbered between 16 and 19, that this $mail_plugins problem would be resolved? Or should I rename 20-imap.conf and 20-pop3.conf (I have not enabled POP3 as of yet), to higher digits (e.g. : 21-imap.conf and 21-pop3.conf)? If renaming t...

extending qemu-dm
Hello, I''m working on a project and trying to pass through a PS/2 mouse + keyboard to a hardware VM. I''ve played with numerous things (including the obvious, using USB), but after finding no alternative, it seems like the best way to approach this would be to modify qemu-dm to pipe through data from /dev/input/eventwhatever to the keyboard/mouse that qemu provides (and then

ices0 config for high and low bandwidth users
Hello, Does anyone have a config for the above? I've got several static playlists of mp3's that i'd like to offer. Offering them for high bandwidth cable dsl users works fine, but i'd like to give them out to dialups as well. Currently whenever a dialup user connects the stream1 plays for about two seconds then goes sluggish. I'm theorizing that i'm giving to much for

problem with unix extensions on Adaptec SNAP Server (Redhat 8)
...esn't exist on the server and create files whose owner is set correctly). If I run this command against the snap server I am able to create files but the owner is set to the user specified on the mount command. I tried to escalate this problem through Adaptec tech support to no avail. I theorized that adaptec may have patched samba in a strange way to somehow disable 'unix extensions'. I discovered that the Adaptec snap server is just a stripped down Redhat 8 box (through /lib/libc.so.6), so I compiled samba 3.0.20b on another Redhat 8 box and moved the binary (and some shared...
