Hardware List Draft
Here's a list of non-PC hardware I found that supports Vorbis, with links and short descriptions. It's still kind of rough, and I don't have personal experience with any of these things, though where noted, I have gotten email from the company. This is still just a draft. I've made links, and also left the URLs after the headings so it converts to text well. Following the

PDA's over SIP channels on Asterisk
Is it possible for two PDA's to communicate like telephones via SIP channels on a PC running Asterisk? If that is possible, does there exist any applications that can be installed on a Zaurus 5600, which is a PDA with an Xscale processor running on a Linux OS, that can essentially turn it into a softphone? Thanks in advance for any input, Daniel

Integrate Speex into VOCAL
> I'm about to try to integrate SPEEX into the VOCAL project. Good. Just a detail, but the correct spelling in "Speex". > 1) To encode, it appears I need an array of floats. If > I am playing wav files, what is the best way to turn these > into something speex can encode? Speex version 1.0.x (stable) expects float's in the -32768 to +32767 range, so it's just

PostgreSQL database design tool
Been thinking about playing with PostgreSQL. When I did my research, on the PostgreSQL site, there were a few tools they "recommended" for design, display of schemas, etc. Open System Architect seemed to fit my demands, but unfortunately, the installation documents do not exist, at least the links go in a circle to nowhere. There's a binary which I assume can be executed, but at

SQL "editor"
Hello all, I am curious about what tools you guys use to make your databases. I know David uses CocoaMySQL. Are there other tools for other platforms and for other databases? I''m not very good with the SQL language, so I would like being able to do all my database setup with an easy-to-use tool (defining tables, fields, primary keys, foreign keys, indexes, etc.) Big kisses, Vincent.

Integrate Speex into VOCAL
Hello! I'm about to try to integrate SPEEX into the VOCAL project. If anyone has any pointers as to the best way to do this, please let me know. After reading the speex api man page, I have a few questions: 1) To encode, it appears I need an array of floats. If I am playing wav files, what is the best way to turn these into something speex can encode? 2) Are there any commercially

Ripping CD´s to Ogg Vorbis under Linux
Hi, I recently migrated from Windows to Linux. I´ve used Linux quite a bit in server-enviroments, but as a desktop I have very little experience. I am now looking for a tool to rip CD´s to Ogg with CDDA support. I´ve tried KonCD, but it lacks features and is abit buggy. Sure, I can use cdparanoia, rename the wav´s to the right names and then encode to ogg via oggenc. But since I use X I

wow! and what about h/w players for vorbis files?
wow! i must say vorbis deprecates mp3! lol. although, i had to use the "OSS/3d for XMMS" plugin on my sblive value w/ 4 point sound to get a proper base. On my other box with a diff card, bass is just fine. however, are there any h/w players for vorbis files? the faq only states one manufacturer called iObjects but i see no portable players! Basically, i want to player vorbis files
