Running classes alone
Hello!
I''ve got a manifest that involves downloading and updating a bunch of
different packages using apt, pip, etc. One of my apt-dependencies, dnsmasq<http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/doc.html>,
redirects the machine''s DNS. Any modules currently running at that time
that use the internet get a temporary name resolution error.
Unfortunately, I can''t run this class in a different stage, as it creates
a dependency cycle with the other thin...

[OT] DNSmasq - a simple solution for DNS and DHCP
...ver + dhcp-server that maps local machines
to the local domain a breeze, something that is missing in the samba howto
collection (http://www.bibsyst.no/samba/docs/man/DNSDHCP.html#id2981727).
I've been running it for two months now, so I felt it was time to recomend it to
others.

Disclaimer:
I am not affiliated with the project in any way, but a simple solution for
combining dns and dhcp has bugged me for so long that I thought others might

DNSMasq - Why the stuff hits the fan when the net connection is down
List,
Per someone's suggestion (thanks, whoever you were) from this list, I
implemented dnsmasq to prevent the issue of resolving DNS when the net
connection goes down.
This morning the net connection was down, and our * server didn't miss a
beat. I recommend looking into:
http://thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/doc.html
And
http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3377351
For precluding such problems, but YMMV.

asterisk and DNS
We've just had the problem where our DNS server went down, and * started
to act "funny".
Is the best solution to install a local DNS server on the * box, and
have no other DNS servers ? - this is an internal app, no need for any
external DNS resolution at all.
Julian.

DNS and DHCP setup
Hi,
Does anyone know of a document that gives details on how to set up Bind
9 and DHCPD 3.x so that dns is updated when clients log on?
I saw this is not in the howto collection
(http://www.bibsyst.no/samba/docs/man/DNSDHCP.html#id2981727) so I was
kind of hoping someone else has some notes.
I would be greatfull for any tips and links.

Samba multi-site advice request please
Hi all,
I am looking at setting up a multi-site office and need to put a plan
forward. The site consists of one head office and several branch office
and my plan so far is this:
In head office, one Samba PDC. Each branch office will have a local BDC
that also stores files local to the branch, hopefully cutting down the
day to day traffic across the VPN. The VPN I plan to use is OpenVPN in
