Avoiding uid conflicts between rfc2307 user/groups and computers

Again, i'm speaking more about machine account than LocalSYSTEM account... > Please read this: > https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/The_SYSTEM_Account Seems me perfectly coherent with what i'm saying, on detail: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/The_SYSTEM_Account#How_the_SYSTEM_Account_Is_Used_by_a_Windows_Service works not only for the SysVOL share, but more generally; simply sysvol is a DC share, and on DC automatic mappings (via xID) h...

administrator does not have permission
While attempting to check 'profiles' user permissions on my member server I discovered that (for some reason) I did not have a krb5.conf file (on member.) Resolved that issue. Then find that the keytab file is missing. Fixed that. I wanted to check profile user permissions and have discovered that the administrator does not have permission to "view or edit this object's

Problems with samba and profile syncing from various windows versions
Hi! I've got an old samba installation, now thanks to you all - successfully upgraded to ubuntu 16.04. Samba is the packaged version 4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.6. The problem I have is that for some users their profiles do not sync properly. They seem to upload onto the server, and then at the next logon some files that were deleted by the user come back. It is more per user basis or per

Samba-wiki info about profiles and SYSTEM account.
Hai, I just saw the new site for the profiles :-) didnt notice that. Looks nice. Now i saw the link to : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/The_SYSTEM_Account This is very very disturbing.... Especially these lines: "The SYSTEM account is never sent to a remote host to authenticate and for this reason never used to access a remote file system" "For this reasons, you can omit the SYSTEM account in file system ACLs on Samba shares.&quot...

administrator does not have permission
...s world side when an "administrator" cannot 'take ownership' of a file share, the docs discuss the "System" account being used as it (System account) has greater permissions than that of the administrator. I remembered reading this page https://wiki.samba.org/index. php/The_SYSTEM_Account and have now re-read said page *carefully*. There I find this message box "For compatibility with Windows, add the SYSTEM account to file system ACLs." How do I add the SYSTEM account to my ACLs on a Samba member server? samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts
...ba/sysvol/ad.example.nl/scripts > read only = No > > [sysvol] > path = /var/lib/samba/sysvol > read only = No > > > > Can I suggest you read these wikipages: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/The_SYSTEM_Account Can I also suggest you remove the 'winbind enum' lines, you do not need these. And finally, definitely remove the user.map line from the DC. Rowland

Samba 4.5.8-Debian User Profiles on NFS-Share
Hi Louis, yep - is installed. :-) Since this is a brand new profile it is only ever been from and within Windows 8.1. I also deployed the registry setting for separatin .V2 and V4 as default, since I had troubles. Franz >>> L.P.H. van Belle <belle at bazuin.nl> 23.05.2017 13:04 >>> Hmm, V4 profile, windows 8? GPOs not Working!
hai Micha,   The why is explained here. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/The_SYSTEM_Account  Which in the end has todo with SID_BOTH, one sid for a user and group, linux does not understand that correctly.   with : acl_xattr:ignore system acls = [yes|no] When set to yes, a best effort mapping from/to the POSIX ACL layer will not be done by this module. The default is no, which means tha...

samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts
Hi all, I have exactly the same problem as the OP and tried the solution below, but I still get the error: 'Username IUCNNL\PC050$ is invalid on this system'. Should I map useraccount, enable Guest account, chang eunix directory permissions or things like that? Problem: My Windows 10 computers' machine accounts cannot acces shares on a domain member (samba 4.6 , id map = ad, centos

GPOs not Working!
ok, do the following. set ignore systemacl to yes on sysvol and netlogon. login as dom\administrator computer manager, connect to dc. share sysvol, goto share security, reset to defalts. same for folder. goto gpo manager, klik on every gpo object, if one has wrong acl, you get a message to reset it, thats ok. now never samba-tool sysvol reset if you do, you might need to set share/file
