Mapping / UNC question
...If you cut off one you cut off both, don't you? Has anyone done anything like this? I've been through the man pages and the Eckstein/Collier-Brown/Kelly O'Reilly book to no avail. TIA, Mike "Consensus is the negation of leadership" --Margaret Thatcher

Should "a" match "ä" in ferret?
Hi all, I have indexed a huge amount of data with text from several european languages. In the index are values like Georg Friedrich H?ndel. I would like a search phrase like "Georg Friedrich Handel" to find records with the real spelling of H?ndel but it doesn''t seem to work. Can anyone give me an idea of what I need to do to make this happen. A bit lost here and

Working platform with FreeBSD + USB + MGE Ellipse (usbhid-ups)
...'ve have had some difficulties to run NUT on freebsd, but I finally managed to have something that work reliably enough. For those who may be interested, here is what I did. Os: FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE-p7, nut: 2.2.0, libusb: 0.1.12 First, I had to patch libusb with the changes submitted by Nevil Thatcher in the nutups forum in may 2006. Without this change, nothing works. (http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsuser/2006-May/000992.html) At this point, I had something that more or less works, but the USB connection drops occasionaly for some reasons, and won't recover. I did not trace...

Any chance to get 0.11.3 on windows soon ?
Hi, I''m working on a Ferret-based application which indexes content in all European languages. Thus, I have to deal with those funny European characters. After googling a bit, I decided to move on with a custom European analyzer based on MappingFilter, as suggested in the Ferret rdoc. Everything works fine with Ferret 0.11.3 on Mac OS X. But this application needs to run on both

RTP to Speex
First off I just want to thank everybody, especially Jean-Marc, for all their work on Speex. I have been using the codec in a call recording application for a couple of years now and it is great. My application is pretty simple, it just takes wav files created by a phone server, converts them to speex and makes them available for playback in a custom speex player. Speex was the perfect format for

Calculate the audio duration of a speex file
I am having some trouble calculating the duration of my speex files. I am writing a speex player in Java and I am using the JSpeex port of the codec which works but doesn't give me the audio duration which I need to show progress or implement a scrubber. JSpeex appears to be all but dead but I don't see any other option for Java playback. I have tried the method posted here:

Need clarification of documentation
Hi, I have question about the delete() method docs. I am re-indexing data on the fly so I would like to delete any existing indexed data for a particular resource before re-indexing it using index.delete(id). The delete() method api doc says: "Delete the document referenced by the document number id if id is an integer or all of the documents which have the term id if id is a term.. id:

RE: Nut-upsuser Digest, Vol 11, Issue 3
Hi Vladimir, I have got 2.0.3 working on netBSD 3.0. To get it operational I needed to do the following (most of this is from memory...). 1). Recompile kernel with uhid removed. If uhid ataches to the device then libusb is not able to. Have to allow generic usb driver ugen to claim port. >From dmesg usb0 at uhci0: USB revision 1.0 uhub0 at usb0 uhub0: VIA Technologies UHCI root hub, class

Help connecting to SOCKS5 proxy server with Open SSH
My desire is to form a connection from my laptop running ubuntu to a SOCKS5 server listed on the Internet. I have read the Ubuntu man page on OpenSSH client program. The description indicates that I have to connect to given host name (assumed to be an ip address?) with optional username. I want the server receive my Internet traffic in SOCKS5 protocol and respond to my computer the requested

Any word on a recent build for Win32/Rails 1.2.1
Hi, I am developing on Win XP at the moment for an NGO that seems stuck on the idea that Win2003 Server is the future. Much as I have tried to convert them to a unix environment, they''re having none of it. I am using the prebuilt Win32 release of ferret 0.10.9 and would like to upgrade to the latest version for the latest features etc but more importantly to solve an issue with bug

Are shared libraries being loaded in some other context?
I have come across an oddity and wanted to ask if anyone else has looked into this. 1) I have a locally installed gem: RMagick. 2) It loads and works just fine from script/console when I have LD_LIBRARY_PATH and GEM_PATH set in the shell. However, in the live environment it just does not want to play nicely. I have both LD_LIBRARY_PATH and GEM_PATH set in environment.rb and echo those values
