softirq bound to vcpus
In "Understanding the Linux Kernel" 3rd edition, section 4.7 "Softirqs and
Tasklets" it states:
"Activation and execution [of defferable functions] are bound together: a
deferrable function that has been activated by a given CPU must be executed on
the same CPU. There is no self-evident reason suggesting that this rule is
beneficial for system performance. Binding the

changing MAC address makes VM unreachable
I''m using 3.0.2-3 and have gotten a matching user report from someone using
3.0.1.
After powering off a VM, changing its MAC address and rebooting, it becomes
unreachable.
I made sure all ARP caches expired first before trying to contact the VM.
Looking at the network traffic shows the ARP who-has query hanging
indefinitely. "brctl showmacs xenbr0" also shows the old,

xm list dropping domain?
I rebooted xenU from console (dom2) and exited (ctr-]). xm list does
not report 2 anymore yet I can log into 2 via console and it is running
just fine. Is this a bug? I''ll pull/rebuild and see what happens..
(this is xen-2.0, cset 1.1321.1.1, rh7.3 dom0/dom1)

as my Xen3 server is finaly becomming ready for production I was
wondering if anyone has written a xen usage monitoring/logging tool?

Or a munin plugin?
I can''t remember seeing anything simmilar on the list.

For a munin plugin I''d

I''m finding I cannot use the vif parameter with ''bridge'' only
For example:

This errors out:

state of ia64 and/or Altix?
What is the current state of Xen ia64 on SGI Altix? I see some Altix patches
from sgi.com, I assume this means it is tested. Is it stable? Are there more
appropriate mailing lists or documentation to query?
Thankyou,
Tim

XenMon''s first reading
In XenMon''s file appending mode, a lot of times I''ll get a strange first data
point, e.g., the cpu% for dom0 will be 99.9 but the rest of the readings will be
19-21 which are sane for the run. I''ve been throwing the data point out, but
was curious about it. Is it unavoidable?
Thanks,
Tim
