LaTeX/R/Sweave Problems
...expert opinion on how I should approach this task and be successful. In essence, I installed (several times) in this order the following: R2.10.1 (and then R 2.9.2), Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 (and then Reader 8.2 and 7.0), MiKTex2.8, GhostScript8.64, GhostGum with GSview 4.9 and the latest version of TeXnicCenter. With all versions of R, I appended the path to the R executables to the path environmental variable. To overcome the fact that the R installation had spaces in the path, I just had the corresponding Sweave.sty in the folder where my .Rnw and .tex files were located and used \usepackage{Sweave} i...

Sweave and TexnicCenter
Hi, I started using Sweave and it's really great. I have only a minor "problem": Is anybody using Sweave together with TexnicCenter and has found out how to get the syntax coloring right? After a $ in the code chunk the coloring stays in math mode. Thanks and kind regards, Werner

Issues with Sweave and inclusion of graphics from nlme
Dear all, I'm using the nlme package. I would like to introduce the plot of my groupedData object in my latex report using Sweave but it doesn't work. I have no error message in R (Sweave(my.file_Rnw)) and the plot is generated in R, but when I want to see the pdf (I'm using TexnicCenter) of my report, there is an error message and no pdf file is generated. It seems that the plot generated by plot.nmGroupedData is not found by TexnicCenter. Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this problem? Thank you, Caroline

I am completely new to LaTeX and Sweave, so I am trying to follow the tutorial in the following link: http://www.r-bloggers.com/using-latex-r-and-sweave-to-create-reports-in- windows/ I installed MiKTeX 2.9 and TeXnicCenter, but I get a build error when compiler the example file: The two errors are: "Error: running 'texi2dvi' on 'test.tex' failed" and "R> ! LaTeX Error: File '(.xls' not found." I am using a 32-bit windows machine and R 2.14.1patched. Any suggestions are...

running texi2dvi without running bibtex
...texi2dvi.exe" --pdf "onepager" -I "C:/PROGRA~1/R/R-213~1.0/share/texmf/tex/latex" -I "C:/PROGRA~1/R/R-213~1.0/share/texmf/bibtex/bst"' had status 1 and no pdf produced. I think the problem is that the absence of a biblio causes an error. The files compile in Texniccenter (with a warning on "no \citation commands" etc). Does anyone know of a trick to avoid this problem? Thanks very much for any help! Aidan

Latex editor recommendations
This question is not oriented towards R, but is posted here because I have the impression that there are at least some Latex users among the contributors. The question is: What editors for Latex are to be recommended? I have located one: http://www.latexeditor.org/ What other alternatives are there? I am (for the most part) using Windows XP. Tom

Sweave/LaTeX Problem with EPS PDF
Dear List: I am unsure if my problem is with Sweave or LaTeX. Anyhow, I am using the MikTeX distribution and TexnicCenter. I can easily create Sweave files and all goes well until I try to incorporate graphics. I use the same code as found in the examples found in the users manual. In R, the graphics I want are created as Sweave is creating the .tex file. When I examine the .tex file created by Sweave, it includ...

Questions on Inserting R graphs in latex!
Hi, I try to insert R graphs into a latex file and I am using a Texniccenter/MikTex combination in my Windows XP. Here are the errors I got. Could someone give me some clues? In R, I did > plot(sin(1:10), pch="+") > dev.print(device=postscript, "C:\\myFigure.eps",onefile=FALSE, horizontal=FALSE, paper="special") In latex, I did (myF...

R graphs in LaTeX documents?
I have tried to find a neat way to include graphs from R in LaTeX documents, but have not succeeded (I work with a WinEdt/MikTeX combination). The two roads I have stumbled along so far are the following: *Generate postscript files and convert them into EPS files by means of GhostScript or other not so straightforward tools. *Generate pictex files and include these. None of these solutions have

TeX distribution on Windows
I'm looking for a Windows distribution of TeX that works with R, after a few years' absence from Windows. On Duncan Murdoch's Rtools page fptex is still recommended, but it turns out that fptex is "defunct" as of May 2005, see http://www.metz.supelec.fr/~popineau/xemtex-7.html So, what is suggested? TUG (tug.org) recommends something called proTeXt, which is said to be

Rslides.sty
I recently came across Rslides.sty during a web search and was not aware of it. However, I can't seem to get it to actually work (I use miktex and the texniccenter distribution for Windows). Does anyone have a sample tex file with this style to share? Second, I looked around the R web site to see if other .sty files existed, but was unsuccessful. Does anyone know if there is in fact a location with .sty files specific for R type things online? Thanks...

Sweave, how to save plots with a defined size and how to include several pdf pages on the same line
Hi there, I'm trying to realise a repport with R and Latex (TeXnicCenter and Miktex for Windows) using Sweave(). I'd like to save my plots with a given size. How can I do that ? The issue is that I have several plots created (but it's not always the same numbers of plots, in depends on the data), so I save them in a .pdf file automatically with Latex. Each plo...

installing my own package - problems with INDEX
Hi there; I am a neophyte to R though I have been messing around with programming in other languages and environments for some years (my dog's name is punchcard to give you some idea of how many years). I have been trying to make a package and install it, to no avail. The functions I have written all work as expected (by me, that is). But I cannot get the html help pages to work. The

Latex and R are really cool stuff. I am just wondering how they are used in industry. But based on my own experience, very rare. Why? How about the opinion of other listers? Thanks.
