TeXmacs and R 2.0.0
I have encountered an issue with TeXmacs and R 2.0.0, and I've found a
somewhat unsatisfying workaround. My apologies if this is old news to
the R-Devel list.
TeXmacs has the ability to start up an R session and copy the session
input and output into a working document. The way it does this involves
starting R and executing

what is the best way for an external interface to interact with graphics, libraries
Another message about the R to TeXmacs interface.
1. Graphics
The TeXmacs interface allows the user to directly insert graphics into the
session.
Since I am not very familiar with programming for R, I implemented the
interaction with graphics in a very primitive way. It was two modes of
working: with X11, and without (for example wh...

Linux Editor
Hi Everyone,
I recently have started using R again on a Linux box after spending several
years on a Mac. Last I checked, the best way to use R was through EMACS
using something like ESS. I remember that being serviceable but not always
the most convenient.
Is there anything comparable to the mac version of R with its built in
console, editor, etc??
thanks!

how to limit output to console beyond options(max.print) ?
...nt is 100, since it prints all
the column names.
str(x) really prints too much - it doesn't seem to really be limited
by max.options in this case.
Is there any way to really limit how much is printed on the output
beyond max.print?
---
The specific problem I had is this: I'm working with TeXmacs as the
front end to R, which sadly crashes or gets slow or stuck when too
much is printed as output. I was trying to understand code I wrote
some time ago which generates this big structure, and I couldn't
easily even find what the structure contains, how big the different
parts are, because t...

Is an R sub-session somehow possible?
I wrote the interface between R and TeXmacs. Recently, I added tab
completion. However, there is one slight problem. In order to enable easy
interaction with R, I (I.e. my program) interact with the command-line
interface. This means that the user can invoke demo(), and then R will
interact with the user and ask to press enter.
It also mean...

GUI's for R
...e of all this
reading I am a bit confused. At first I gathered that there was no GUI for
R, that R was strickly a CLI language. What brought me to that conclusion
is the fact that on the R-project pages they refer the readers to external
builders of GUIs like the R-Commander of John Fox, Brodgar, TeXmacs,
SciViews etc.. On the other hand searching the mail archives for the word
"R-GUI" yielded well over 500 hits. After reading a few tens of those I
realized that there existed, after building R, an executable called
"Rgui.exe", what is that? is that a GUI version of R or not?...

conditional assignments and calculations
Hello!
I am using the TeXmacs interface to R. (Though I encountered a similar
problem when using Sweave)
In doing calculations I often ecounter this scenario: I'll have some
calculations in my file:
--
A=read.lots.of.data()
B=huge.calculation.on(A)
C=another.calculation.on(B)
--
Now, if A has already been read, I don...

latex styling for R regression outputs
Hi everybody,
i recently found the latex() command in the Hmisc library and i am
trying to style some regression outputs with latex. i am pretty new to
latex and math mode. So I wonder if there?s some sample script for a
basic output. I read lots of econometrics books and regression outputs
looked the same all the way. I mean there must be the one simple
styling that is been used so

i am locking for a GUI for R. I have a Debian Woody 3.0 and running R 1.5.1.
In office i am using SPSS 9.0 for several years now after Systat for short
time and now i would use a statistic software under Linux at home. It seems
that R could be that what i am looking for, but i have problems to understand
how it works or better explained i would prefer using a good grafic interface.

[PATCH]Application-window switcher, and comments for switcher.c
...witcher.c, there's a lot of
duplication in the setup of each of the modes (allwindows, normal,
no-popup, appswitch). Would a patch that factors this code out be
smiled upon?
* The group code obviously relies on some form of application support.
Gnome-terminals work, Epiphany works, emacs and texmacs don't. This
is probably related to

cygwin slow problem
Hi,
Being stuck in Windows at work, I installed rails on cygwin.
However, when I type something like:
script/generate
or
script/generate model
the pc just churns and whirrs away and after about 2 minutes displays
the text.
Obviously this is unusable. Can anybody help explain this or give me
pointers as to what to do next??
Thanks,
Chris.
