Connecting to internet with USB tethered iphone
I am trying to get a centos 6 system on the internet with a tethered
iPhone. I can see the phone with lsusb as bus 001 device 011. A post on
stackoverflow said I would need to run "# ip link set usb0 up && dhcpcd
usb0"
But how do I reference my phone in that command?

If this machine had wifi I would not need to use my phone.

I thought that if the phone is in tethering mode that is all you need
to do. The command is saying setup an 'ethernet' port on the USB and
to ask for a dhcpd command from it. If the phone allows tethering it
will be using its USB as an ethernet connection and will see a dhcpd
connection and will give out an ip address.

I always found that USB tethering is flaky and hard to set up. So I use
wifi tethering whenever possible. Just my $.02.

I see. We all have to make use of what we have.
Another option is to add a USB wifi dongle, such as

Using a mobile phone via USB as an extension
...l a mobile is the same as a land line. In other countries, it is very
different.
I know of a mobile operator who bundle lots of free on-network minutes with SIM
cards. I wonder if it is possible to forward the call via a mobile phone
tethered to an asterisk server through USB?
Has anyone tried tethering a mobile phone to an asterisk server and configuring
it as an asterisk extension so they can use free or cheap on-network minutes for
the mobile leg of the call?
Thanks.
Nick.

Poor performance on open/copy/close/rename file operations via remote/VPN connection
Hello,
I have Samba version 3.0.24 running on a 2.6.14-gentoo-r5 x86 kernel
(xeon 3ghz, 1gb ram raid 5).
All clients accessing samba shares via LAN have no problems. Samba
server works perfectly and fast.
We are instead experiencing serious performance issues when accessing
samba shares from remote clients (WAN), via VPN.
Simple operations like "open a file", "copy & paste a

No incoming sip calls
Hi folks - I've recently returned to asterisk after an eighteen month break.
I've two sip providers - gradwell in the UK (inbound and outbound)
and talklite in the US (outbound only).
I've managed to get outbound dialing working but am not receiving any
calls from gradwell.
I've included my sip.conf and extensions.conf as well as the output
from tethereal. When a call is placed
