Proper unix ownership/Permissions for top level share
I am using zfs on linux to store my file shares on. When I create a new file system, they have the following permissions: [root at server ~]# zfs create tank/testsystem [root at server ~]# ls -Al /tank drwxrwxrwx+ 10 root root 27 Jun 2 20:10 Software drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2 Jun 3 07:43 testsystem At this point, if I use the rsat and attempt to set ACL, I get permission

Vista password being rejected on share security mode
I'm working on trying to get Samba 3.0.23c to work with Vista and I've run into a snag. If a share is set up for security = share, and protected with a password, when I try to mount the share using Start->Run->\\server\share, the password is rejected by Samba for about the first 10 seconds, but after that, it lets me in. I've tried all the common suggestions such as changing

colorized logfiles in asterisk 1.6.0.6
Hello ! I've upgraded our testsystem from asterisk 1.4.21 to asterisk 1.6.0.6. We 've noticed that the log files are now in colour. I could not find a note in the upgrade section about this. Is this a feature or a bug ? It might be usefull to have them not in colour. best regards Hans

still problems to join domain with W2Ksp2
Hi, what I've done: Installed Redhat 7.2 and Samba 2.2.2 from rawhide. Configured samba as a PDC and WINS-Server. Added Useraccounts and Mashineaccounts for my NT4SP6a-Users and -Systems. The NT4 Systems can join the domain, the Users can access the shares. Installed W2K with sp2 on an testsystem. I can access the shares with different users. I added the mashine account for the testsystem

how to handle logging
Hello, I plan a migration to dovecot and have concerns about the amount of logged data. On a testsystem dovecot produced 1TB syslog per day with a comparable amount of pop3 sessions. The current server log to STDOUT which is connected to multilog (circular buffer, http://cr.yp.to/daemontools/multilog.html) That way I can have a look at the last activities to any time. I like to have that in

benchmark results
I've had the chance to use a testsystem here and couldn't resist running a few benchmark programs on them: bonnie++, tiobench, dbench and a few generic ones (cp/rm/tar/etc...) on ext{234}, btrfs, jfs, ufs, xfs, zfs. All with standard mkfs/mount options and +noatime for all of them. Here are the results, no graphs - sorry: http://nerdbynature.de/benchmarks/v40z/2009-12-22/ Reiserfs

change SOA record
Hello list..:-) i have a little problem and don´t find a solution for it. Some time ago our first DC died and I replaced it with a new one with a different name but the same IP.didn´t want to change the DNS entry in all the clients. Guess since than the dynamic DNS update wasn´t working anymore, so I tried to find out the reason. What I found is that the SOA record was pointing still to the

kernel 4.9.86-30 missing mpt2sas module
Hi I am attempting to setup Xen 4.10 with kernel 4.9.86-30 ( virt7-xen-410-testing, virt7-common-testing ) on CentOS7 After installing everything, the machine was unable to boot and hung in dracut stating it could not find its root device. The testsystem I use is a somewhat aged Dell M915 Blade (Quad opteron 61xx), using an MPT SAS controller for it's SAS boot drives. Stock CentOS 7

LDAP: Connection appears to be hanging, reconnecting
Hello List I have a strange problem here which i try to analyse, but i'm stuck. Maybe someone has a hint? What happened: A few weeks ago one of the LDAPS Servers which is not maintained by us has crashed. From that moment on, users could still login to check their emails, but they were not able to send any email through postfix (which uses smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot) What i do not

mdbox
Reviewing some mailing list archives and the wiki, I still don't have a real clear picture of why I'd want to use mdbox. What I've taken from the info I've reviewed says mdbox is more complicated (than sdbox), has greater potential for breakage (simply because it's more complex), and has a theoretical performance impact depending on the exact filesystem/hardware used.

IMAP shows forwarding and vacation files
...(with dovecot v1) or another testing machine with dovecot 2, which runs also under linux. userdb lookups are static with system account/group of exim. Is there any way to "hide" the .forward and .vacation files or do i have to rename or move them? Why are they shown here and not on our testsystems? regards, Nico Suhl

advantages of a sip phone over Wildcard TDM400P solution
Hi, after finally getting my testsystem to work well I'm planning to buy some hardware. Now I was wondering what the advantages / disadvantages of using a Wildcard TDM400P solution over using real sip phones like the snoms is? The only thing I came up with is that the Snoms can use a LDAP adressbook on the server. What about calling a sip adress like person@server.com. Can this be done by
