/etc/printcap
Hi, following situation: 1) You create a raw printer (called "testprinter") under cups and leave the description-field (info-field) empty. cups will create an entry in /etc/printcap of the form testprinter|testprinter:rm=linux100:rp=testprinter: 2) You start samba with a standard [printers] and [print$] share. samba will expose the printqueue to the clients. 3...

v2.0.6 problem with unique mktemp() file names for printer spooling files...
...... Is this a bug or did I something wrong? I experimented with name mangling, upper and lower case conversion but nothing did work. I found nothing about that in the docs/faqs, it seems to be trivial that the spooling works, but it doesn't. Any ideas? Print Command not working
Hi there, I'm having an unusual problem. We are running Samba 1.9.18p8 on an Intel PII running Unixware 2.1.2. Recently recently we've been seeing problems with samba printing. We've narrowed it down to a problem with the "Print Command" function in smb.conf. At some point, whatever is configured as the "Print Command", never gets executed. Even if the print

Printing from Linux (Redhat 9) to a win2k shared printer
I'm trying to use a Kyocera-Mita FS-1010 printer conencted on a Win2000 workstation. I can list the shares on the win2k station using smbclient and I can mount shares from it. When I'm trying to print a test page I get the following error: "ERRDOS - ERRbadaccess opening remote file testprint.ps". I am using the postscript driver. I hope someone can give me a hint :). Recommendations for Lexmark Z11 driver install?
.../2007:20:33:06 -0800] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more. I [04/Feb/2007:20:33:06 -0800] Saving printers.conf... If I look with "lpq" I find: Lexmark is not ready Rank Owner Job File(s) Total Size 1st root 4 testprint.ps 15360 bytes (Jobs 1-3 were previous failed attempts at printing the test page, which I deleted with lprm.) Any clues as to why "Lexmark is not ready"? "lpstat -a" says: Lexmark accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00 Obviously that date is a bit wacky....

Samba printing
Using samba 3.05 and the point and print features how does one setup tcp/ip ports for printing. After having loaded the print drivers using the APW all the printer ports show a local port on the samba server and all of my printers use a 192.168.10.X address. Is there anyway this can automatically happen without user intervention. I wasn't able to locate this info in the how to's.
