Hi,
Here is the network setup
Linux 8.0/samba 3.0

I been trying to join a linux 8.0(testbox) with samba

command "net join ads Administrator" and tells me
testbox is joined to testnet.lan realm and i see it on

smbmount: mount() syscall gone bad ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have seen a weird problem in one of my clients. The reported that
when issuing a smbmount command (both client and server are CentOS 4.4),
it would take up to 30 second for the mount to complete.
To make a long history short, by using strace and the source, I noticed
smbmnt is first calling mount() using ascii options for *data. Then
that would

2.0.6pre3 and FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE
...e behavior I'm seeing in xperfmon++ v3.0 suggests that there is a problem
in syncing writes from the client to the network and from the network to
the server, i.e., disk traffic on the host is very bursty with peaks over
1MB/sec but with no disk traffic much of the time. The benchmark program,
TESTNET 2.24, writes 65K blocks 1000 times sequentially to the mounted
server share.
netstat -i shows 3 input errors in 6 million frames, 1 output error in
100,000 frames. NFS mounts of this server clock around 3MB/sec.
Samba logfiles show nothing, other than the usual "call_nt_transact_ioctl:

...manual deletion of all samba components, recompile, and re-install, still

The following fixes from Terry Dwyer have increases samba 2.0.6 speed to the
same as 3.3-RELEASE using TESTNET.EXE, about 1.6MB/sec for a 32MB file in
both cases.
Benchmarks were run from a Win 2000 Profession box using NT 4 domain

In smb.conf these are added:
