I have issue in configuring file servers with AD integration.
Hi,
I am configuring file servers with AD integration with referring below
link. I am able to get AD user name and group by running this command
wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g but when I run getent passwd and getent group I am
unable to see in the list. Please help me to understand where I am doing
wrong.

Help needed. Samba 3.2.0rc2 - IDMAP - Windows 2008 Server - ADS Integration - Winbind
...nately we have to move to a Windows 2008 Server ADS in our
company as this is required for some other projects. But we want to
keep our nice 5+ samba-server providing fast 50TB+ of storage.
So we have to find a way to nicely integrate the storage with the new
ADS installed. Therefor I installed a Testlab consisting of 2 debian
etch storage-servers with each 12TB lvm-based storage attached. Also we
have 2 MS 2008 Server SP1 as PDC and BDC. Further we have some Windows
XP 32 and 64 Bit clients as workstations for testing.
Now we setup everything and decided to use samba 3.2.0 as there are some
bugs...

Domain & workgroup on separate subnets?
...company network, and runs
an domain BLUETREE. The two domain controllers are
also WINS servers. All machines in this network are
domain members.
The .4.x subnet is a test lab network. I don't want
machines in this network to be in the BLUETREE domain.
I intend to place these machines in a TESTLAB workgroup.
These machines are configured via DHCP to use the two
WINS servers on .3.x above. (Is this OK?)
I would like browsing to work from both sides so that
the "local" machines will show up in Network Neighborhood
and both BLUETREE and TESTLAB will appear in Entire Network.

Windows file ownership changed from SID to Unix User

Maybe, but it "worked". Can we speculate what change in 4.10.x prompted
Samba to export "Unix user\username" type of ownership to Windows clients
instead of SID? Is there any option to revert to previous "wrong" behavior
as a temporary workaround?

Error when joining new DC
Hi Douglas,
Thanks for this suggestion. I'll try that.
Additionally, after reading the not on samba.tranquil.it about 'dependencies to sssd' (whatever it means) I will try to use a completely fresh installation of RHEL9. For my testlab I have just used a clone of some VM which was previously joined to domain and was using sssd.
I will report back with my findings in a while.
Thanks
Peter
