samba wiki
Hai, ? i was reading: ? http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS? which stats : Don't use BIND9_FLATFILE! It's not documented and supported!? ? This is wrong imo.? ? bind9_flatefile works fine, it just does not support multi master dns, and bind9_DLZ does. so you must setup a master/slave setup for bind9 with flatfile ? If you need to run a network...

Question re kerberos . . .
...sfully configured the domain/realm and DNS (as far as I can tell) and worked my way through Testing Your Samba Domain Controller <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_Your_Samba_Domain_Controller> and Testing DNS <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS> segments without issue. I'm having problems starting Kerberos, specifically, 'krb5-kdc' and 'krb5-admin-server' It appears it cannot identify the realm/domain It appears Samba is not identifying itself. adam at sogo:~$ sudo service krb5-kdc start * Starting Kerbero...

recreate/re-provision DNS db from scratch?
Hi, Is there a way to re-initialize/re-provision DNS? I have a working domain with 100+ users and computers etc.. I want to preserve all those users, settings and group policies etc, only start the DNS part from scratch. Why? I've been having some (mysterious) issues with Samba 4 DNS since.. well.. I suppose since I started with 4.0.6 (migrated from Samba 3.x) but from a users' point of

recreate/re-provision DNS db from scratch?
...- How many DCs do you have? - What Samba versions do your DCs run? - Does replication works? - Do you use the internal DNS or BIND_DLZ? - Is Samba/BIND listening on port 53 (netstat -taunp|grep :53) - Does DNS entries resolve on the server (try https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS) Regards, Marc

Problem with AD users and groups
To all, I have run into a problem. I am running Samba 4.1.0 pre1-git-94f11e9 and I shut down our server to do regular maintenance. Unknown to me at the time, a machine was connected. I know, ugh!! Anyway, when I rebooted and tried to use the AD users and groups tool, I get an error stating that "naming convention cannot be located because the system detected a possible attempt to

...or BIND_DLZ? Internal. Also, I'm using './configure' without any arguments. All pretty standard I would say. > - Is Samba/BIND listening on port 53 (netstat -taunp|grep :53) > - Does DNS entries resolve on the server (try > https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS) Resolving works fine both on the box itself (I tested 'host jnet.hermanjordan.nl 127.0.0.1' and on the 192.168.2.4 lan IP) and from the Windows client. I must confess I did not check the two SRV records at that time (but see next). I can login from a Windows client, but in eventlog and...

Windows 8 and Samba 4 - network path not found
Hi list I have a problem and I hope anyone here can provide me a solution to my problem. I have a Samba4 Server installed on a hosted platform with bind9 flatfile backend. The OS is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. All tests on the server succeeded. Name resolution works fine and also the sambaclient -L localhost -U% is successful. Whenever I try to join the domain with my Win8 machine I get the

Samba 4.1.6 and 4.1.7 Kerberos problem on Debian Linux
I am trying to setup an AD using a Linux server to get away from Windows Server 2008. So far I have tried the setup on both a Debian 7.4 64 bit machine, and a Raspberry Pi (Debian variant). I've tried both Samba stable versions 4.1.6 and 4.1.7, and they both give me the same results. I followed the instructions to install the Samba 4 AD setup at

Joining 2008 R2 to Samba4 AD DC
...adorandco.com/scripts read only = No [sysvol] path = /var/lib/samba/sysvol read only = No As you can see, I've commented out the "dcerpc" calls. All the tests under "Testing DNS" work correctly https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS All Windows clients refer only to the Samba AD DC for DNS, and the Samba AD DC forwards DNS to our gateway device. That was discussed during an earlier e-mail to the mailing list. https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2015-February/189159.html https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2015-Februa...

Hi all, Well, I'm completely lost with AD authentification ... server is : Ubuntu 12.04.3 3.8.0-32-generic #47~precise1-Ubuntu Samba 4.0.10 installed (and upgraded) via git, setup as unique Active Directory Domain Controller ( -> how to upgrade to 4.1 via git ?? ) I 'just' would like that the local services (let's say only dovecot and postfix) can query AD to authentifiate
