CentOS 7.8 samba member server does not join and populate with correct FQDN
Joining member Centos 7.8 Linux server with 4.10.4-10.el7 or higher appears to ignore client FQDN when AD domain does not match client domain name.? For example Active Directory Domain is ad1.testdomain.com and the client member server FQDN is? testhost.clients.testdomain.com.? When joining the domain? DNSHostName attribute in AD shows testhost.ad1.testdomain.com when it should be testhost.clients.testdomain.com.? This also makes ServicePrincipalNames incorrect in AD.? This join has been working correctly for years with last version working correc...

it is quite possible that there is a cleaner way to achieve the same

And that would get you a /24 network
And I also thought wrong, yes the name is wrong, but it should have been

puppet/naginator?
I''m very interested in the way that puppet appears to be able to
generate nagios configurations though I can''t seem to find any
documenation on how it works:
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/naginator
is clearly a placeholder page...
Meanwhile the various pieces of info at links such as:
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/TypeReference#nagios-host
are just teasing me.

I have no name Error
I just compiled and installed samba 3.2.4 on Redhat host and configured as
member. While I try to login as an AD user, I get "I have no name" and
"cannot find name" error.
[root@testhost]# su - testuser
id: cannot find name for user ID 11616
id: cannot find name for group ID 10513
id: cannot find name for user ID 11616
But wbinfo --uid-info=11616 returns the result.
Any idea why?
thanks

1. stdout only: stdout stays connected after primary command exit:

samba-tool PTR with /16 network
Hai,
Ok, i did a few things on my DC and see the how/what here.
First, the zone.
samba-tool dns zonecreate rtd-dc1 19.172.in-addr.arpa
That worked fine, in windows DNS tool that shows correct.
Now i added an PTR with this line.
samba-tool dns add dc1 19.172.in-addr.arpa 55.0 PTR testhost.internal.domain.tld
This resulted in a subfolder "0" the 19.172.in-addr.arpa zone.
Where the ip resulted in 172.19.0.0.55 Trying to delete this from this zone, that did not work, but wait.
After a few minutes, i was wondery why/what the ... ..
