problem mapping share using hostname of server
Running samba version 3.2 on AIX 6.1. Mapping share on windows 7 workstation.
I can map the share using \\<ip<file:///\\%3cip> address>\testarea.
If I attempt to map using using \\servername\testarea<file:///\\servername\testarea> I receive an error.
smbclient -L //<servername>/testarea on the unix box is successful
When I run a net view command I receive the following:
C:\Users\Desktop>net view \\<servername>\testar...

Unable to map network drive using server name
Running samba on AIX 6.1. Mapping share on windows 7 workstation.
My share will only map using the ip address, not by server name.
smbclient -L //<servername>/testarea on the unix box is successful
When I run a net view command I receive a system error.
C:\Users\Desktop>net view \\<servername>\test<file:///\\%3cservername%3e\test> area
System error 53 has occurred.
Is the problem with my samba config or possible a network issue? Any suggestions...

User mapping?
I have a network with a Samba server (Samba 4, but running as an old
NT-style domain), Windows and Linux clients.
The Windows clients need to be able to read and write to filesystems on
the Linux client. Also, other Linux machines need to write (via NFS) to
the same directories on the Linux client as the Windows clients.
This was all working with with a Linux client running (I am ashamed to
say)
