Fwd: DHCP Updates to DNS - Multiple Entries with Same IP
Dear Rowland
I still have the problem that both dhcp's are running the dhcp-dyndns.sh script and therefore I changed the shell script, to skip deleting and adding every record and to do only necessary changing.
While changing, I found a Typo in sub: rev_zone_info () {
case "$numwords" in
1) # single ip rev zone '192'
ZoneIP=$(echo "${IP}" | awk

Dear All
Found a missing c in recyle should be recycle on the Wiki-page:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller
"You should be aware that if wish to use a vfs object on a DC share e.g.
recycle, you must not just set |vfs objects = recycle| in the share.
Doing this will turn off the default vfs objects |dfs_samba4| and

DNS /16 reverse zone issues with children and octets
Hi Paully
I can help with showing the "subgroup" 0: instead of @ use 0
samba-tool dns query dc3 130.130.in-addr.arpa 0 ALL
the additional 0 might be a bug in 4.7, which is end of life; I would
suggest to upgrade first......but Rowland will know more about it probably.

can't delete recursive DNS entry
Dear Michael
How have you created the subdomain?
to look it up you have to exchange the @ with the name you want to see
samba-tool dns query drago briesebaer.intern intern ALL
and further down than:
samba-tool dns query drago briesebaer.intern briesebaer.intern ALL

can't delete recursive DNS entry
Interesting...........
I tried the same; with the same result: my domain looks ( according
samba-tools) like a copy from my domain in my domain, but the RSAT DNS
tool (win 7 version) is showing "intern" and there are no items to show.
The Active directory Explorer from Sysinternals shows it as
"DC=briesebaer.intern;DC...." but no dnsProperty or dnsRecord...........

same changes in the DHCP to DNS script
I am "playing" around with the DNS update script from the Wiki
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9)
and made a "few" changes, which I think could be important.
1. the script dhcp-dyndns.sh should give back the control to dhcpd as
soon as possible; therefore I am using a second bash-script (dyndns.sh)
to fork of the main script
