LDAP connection leak?
...noticed I had the hostname spelled wrong.
It does, however, indicate a potential problem with Samba--smbd seems to
make an inordinate number of connections to slapd and I suspect is
leaking connections. Here's what slapd started logging, just before
everything came to a halt:

Jan 23 00:07:37 teradactyl last message repeated 3 times

Converting a POP3 client to IMAP
...It would also be nice to be able to auto file
things. I don't see the sieve filters being
activated when I copy mail in Thunderbird.

thunderbird and subscriptions with sieve
...by making the user responsible for finding everything.
I can turn off subscription view in advanced settings on thunderbird,
but we are trying to wean ourselves of of individual mail clients
and I don't want to have to test this everywhere.
