TELNENT TO LOCALHOST IN CENTOS 7

The telnet protocol supports security measures, but most people just use OpenSSH (which can do a lot more) so there's little effort being made to widely use it. Kerberized Telnet Badly Broken (Patch enclosed)

Portable OpenSSH Solaris UseLogin Issue
Greetings, In order to use solaris's BSM (Basic security module) also called c2 audit, which logs specific kernel calls depending on your audit_control, I would need to use login(1) to log users exec calls and whatnot because Portable OpenSSH does not have <bsm/audit.h> support, now that would mean I would have to enable Uselogin in sshd_config in order for that to work. I am running

Now that is out, did you check whether > telnet is running using ps and netstat? useless advise, since telnet is almost always run from a socket, the telnetd is only running if there's an active connection. to the OP, the *correct* answer is, do not use or touch xinetd, and if you modified anything in xinetd, undo it. heck, uniinstall xinetd, nothing in RHEL7/CentOS7 uses xinetd anymore. root# systemctl enable telnet.socket root# syste...

restricting non-pty cmds with passwd auth
Hi, I'm looking for a way to force users to use a pty and their login shell. They have a .profile that forces them to use a specific application. They are currently logging in with telnetd, so this is effective. I want to move to openssh, but this would allow "ssh user at host /bin/sh" and any other commands they can think of to bypass this restriction. Is there a way to make openssh as restrictive at the current environment? -- Jeremy Jackson Coplanar Networks (519)8...
