is srv lookup being done when REGISTERing?
it looks (to me) like asterisk is not doing an SRV lookup when REGISTERing with another sip proxy. is that correct? what i am trying to achieve is to register jasko@telia.net with a proxy using register => jasko:secret:dilbert@telia.net my problem is that asterisk is doing a simple A RR lookup for the domain telia.net which is pointing to a host that is NOT the proxy for that domain (resulting in the REGISTER message ending up with the wrong host). if an SRV l...

Newbie: ISDN E1 the same in all countries?
Hi. I'm looking at ordering a 30-channel ISDN connection from telia (a swedish operator) and then using a Wildcard TE110P card with that and asterisk to do IVR. Can I be certain that the TE110P card will work with that ISDN connection? A 30 channel ISDN certainly sounds like an E1 connection, but I couldn't get any clear answers from the operator if it is....

HOWTO/FAQ question (Location: Sweden)
...rmal' (i.e. analog) telephone? That is, if my company/project have 100% IP telephony, but one of these phones need to call a analog telephone in another company (or if I need to call home for any reason :). What do I need from the 'phone company'? And what hardware? This is Sweden with Telia as provider if that matters. DISCLAIMER1: I've read about BRI, PRI, E1/T1 etc, but the reason I'm all confused is that they (Telia) don't seem to understand the question, and also claims that a PRI == E1. DISCLAIMER2: I've seen the Digium car...

bandwith issues, ISP hosting services, etc
I am looking into supporting around 20 SIP clients (ATAs, IP softphones, etc) distributed in around 10 different end points (in South America). For the most part they all have narrow band connections 64kpbs, 128 at most and I?d like to use g729 all around (don?t have too many alternatives) To start with, I will have one * with no gateway to the PSTN and eventually a few * boxes with termination

openssh-based file transfers (e.g. rsync, scp, ...) are running 40 (!!) times faster via IPv4 than IPv6
openssh 7.6p1-lp150.7.4 on OpenSuse Leap 15 (both server and client) Hi all, first post to list, hopefully on-topic. Haven't found anything on the net, tried to ask at first in OpenSuse forums a while ago (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/533588-rsnapshot-rsync-massive-performance-decrease) and today opened a bug in OpenSuse's Bugzilla

Shell Requirements for Shorewall 1.4.6
The 1.4.6 version of Shorewall makes additional demands on the shell. I have found that both the RH9.0 version of ash and the version of ash that has long been available from the Shorewall download sites are *not* suitable for use with Shorewall 1.4.6. The LEAF Bering version of ash on the other hand works fine. Attached is a small shell program that will allow you to test your shell for

MCP55 SATA data corruption in FreeBSD 7
I am having problems with silent data corruption on (some) drives connected to an MCP55 SATA controller. I have two servers, both running RELENG_7_0/amd64. One has the 570 Ultra chipset, the other has 570 SLI. Both chipsets have the MCP55 SATA controller. The server with 570 Ultra chipset has a bunch of older 250GB SATA-150 drives hooked up to the MCP55 controller and it is working just fine.

ip phone suggestion for Asia?
Hi: i am surveying ip phones for our company. we will use them with asterisk. we have office in taiwan, hong kong, singapore and china. cisco and polycom are too expensive for us. we try several china brand ip phones. they are all cheap and some of them have good quality. but most of them won't offer future firmware support, which we think it's important for ip phones.

CentOS4 laptop touchpad erratic operation
I've just put up CentOS4 on my HP ze4630us laptop, and the installation produced only two problems of note, both related to X operations. 1. The installer refused to allow 1024x768 resoultion for the screen. After install, manually setting the resolution in xorg.conf was no problem. 2. Erratic touchpad operation. This unit has a synaptic touchpad. I've also noted similar problems on my
