Syncing to vblank for interlaced video modes
Hello, I'll start by applauding your efforts to make an open source driver for nv hardware. I imagine it is a very difficult task trying to reverse engineer hardware and produce something useful and featureful. I wish to make a change to the nouveau source. You might say I am considering becoming a nouveau developer. I am one of those crazy nutters who connects my nvidia card directly to

[LLVMdev] llvm-tv
I am trying to compile llvm-tv as per the instructions from the link - http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/television/trunk/README.txt The poolalloc doesn't seem to be in synch with the llvm svn version mentioned (78786). It is giving lot of errors during compilation. I fixed a few of them by bringing in functions/header files etc. wherever required from the mainline llvm. But this exercise

Response time on Tinc VPNs, Bandwith on Tinc-VPN
Hello, response time: how is it possible to increase the response time on Tinc VPNs. When I use tinc over a fast or giga-bit network connection the ping-response time is normally about 1800 to 2000 ms. Sometimes I get ping response times at about 2.500 to 3.000 ms over a normal Ethernet Connection or a television-cable connection within the same providers-network in the same city. The ping-time

limit bandwidth per host question
EHLO tc gurus. New to traffic control. Unfortunately, the politicians here in Denmark have decided that a PC is the same as a television set - so anyone owning a PC and internet connection of over 255 kbit/s must pay DKR 2200/year = EUR 300 = USD 400 in television licence fees :-( This is a lot of money for poor students, so we want to offer the students the *option* of limiting their

graphically representing frequency of words in a speech?
Dear all, I recently saw a graph on television that displayed selected words/phrases in a speech scaled in size according to their frequency. So words/phrases that were often used appeared large and words that were rarely used appeared small. The closest thing I can find on the web to approximate what I saw can be found here: http://stateoftheunion.onetwothree.net/ The example at that website

Book recommendation for newbie to stats and R?
I'm trying to learn statistics and R at the same time. I have an undergraduate science degree and one year of calculus (30 years ago), but never took a stats course. I hope to take some stats courses in the next year, but thought I would start to see how much I could teach myself. I work for an organization that analyses behavior change communication programs regarding HIV/AIDS and

Can anyone help me with doing searches using thesaurus. I really want to do searches that are simple that I make up. For example, a search on "TV" will bring back results that include "Television" and vice versa. Any help appreciated. Clare -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

YSTV Video Online in Theora
Hi, This is just a quick note to let you know that we, York Student Television, have just moved our 'Watch Online' section (http://ystv.york.ac.uk/watch/) to Ogg Theora, which means there's a archive of about 7.5GB's worth of content in Theora freely available under a Creative Commons license for all to download. We're a small TV station based at the University of York,

v4l audio
Hello all - I'm out of my element with multimedia, can anyone point me in the right direction? I've a pchdtv-3000 card I am trying to record from. I can successfully record audio/video using streamer or watch television with audio using tvtime, so I know the audio is there. I want to record directly to theora. I am trying to do so using ffmpeg2theora like so: ffmpeg2theora --v4l

FYI: tagesschau.de partly with Ogg Theora
The news site of Germany's main public television station ARD now has some short clips in Ogg Theora: http://www.tagesschau.de/tagesschau24/ These are the "news in 100 seconds" clips, which are also available in mp4/h264. Curiosuly longer video-news are available as either flash or wmv? Regards, Hannes

Icecast2 and TiVo
...only reason, you may want to verify that burn in may occur. I > think that may have only applied to monochrome > monitors, and maybe early cga. I seem to remember that screen savers were > just eye candy. In this particular case, burn-in will most certainly occur. TiVo is connected to televisions, and big screen TVs are very susceptible to burn in because of how hard the CRTs are driven to produce a large picture. There are tons of horror stories on the 'net about it from people who left them on news channels for days after 9/11, or watched 4:3 material unstretched on a 16:9 screen...

subscription services on icecast2
I just got a query from a user regarding icecast2 and thought I'd throw it out to the mailing list. Is it possible to set up some sort of subscription to an icecast2 audio feed? A student at the University of Cincinnati wants to create a subscription service to an indie radio station and have users sign up, and then get a login to the stream. They would have an unique username and password.

Samba 2.2.1a - ls inconsistancies.
I am running Red Hat 7.2 and using smbmount to mount a PC share from a NT4 SP5 Workstation. I have a folder, in this share, of around 300 files and when I do ls -l I get inconsistencies. Sometimes files are missing, and if I keep repeating the command the files are then appear again. Other times the size information is wrong. No one else is using, or changing, any of the files on the source
