making a plot in xyplot
Hello, I am a newbie to the lattice package in R, and I'm trying to make a plot using the xyplot function. I have repeated measures data (2 conditions) for two different groups of subjects (teens and adults). So far, I've made a basic graph using xyplot(y ~x, group=subnum, data=mydata, type="b"). Now I would like to make all the teens' lines one color and the adults' another. Additionally, I'd like to reformat the dots so that the points referencing condition 1...

Switchtower not working due to openssl not found
I''m struggling to get switchtower working, and from other posts about it I know it has something to do with ruby binding to open ssl. I''m just not sure what I should recompile/reinstall to get things to work. running: "rake remote_exec ACTION=setup" gives me ---> ...executing "mkdir -p -m 775 /usr/apps/hello-rails/releases /usr/apps/hello-rails/shared/system

Sounds like a sound driver issue. Might want to try the SMP version of OSS (www.opensound.com). Do other sound apps work OK? -bg > On Sat, 20 Oct 2001, Akos Maroy wrote: > > /me cries, bummer deal. > Yes, running as root. > The load was in the 'teens as I remember, I looked @ that too. > One CPU was like 15% and the other 11%, something like that. > 2.2.19ext3 #2 SMP, 200nhz ppros, 128mb ram. > Yeah, I know it's an old boxen, but it has been very good to me so far. > What system should I be looking at to get this to work ? >...

Bryan Smith: Thanks for the IPCop recommendation
A few weeks back I had tried to install CentOS on my old AMD 5x6x (equiv to P75 performance) with plans to use it as my firewall and router. Because there were some problems relating to RPM compile architecture (apparently), I posted and Bryan suggested IPCop, even at peril to his life on these lists ;-) according to him. ;-) ;-) Just wanted to tell him thanks, it's worked out well. The writer supports his arguments with direct references to the overwhelming numbers of young black single mothers attempting to raise children, with many being teens themselves; and the foolish criteria that is utilized when choosing their mates; oftentimes being based on nothing more than the young black male's tough or cool neighborhood reputation. The author also identifies the self-destructive and often criminal behavior that many young black men...

Giving full administrator privileges through sudo on production systems
Hello, Consider two following cases: 1. On production systems on television stations, a sysadmin give teens (remaja group, age 13 and older) full administrator privileges by adding this line to sudoers: %remaja ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL Rationale: Almost all programs on the system can only be run by teens as root. 2. On production systems on tobacco factories, a sysadmin also give adults (age 18 and older...

Data.frame Vs Matrix Vs Array: Definitions Please
Hi All, I am learning R and having a little trouble with the usage and proper definitions of data.frames vs. matrix vs vectors. I have read many R tutorials, and looked over ump-teen 'cheat' sheets and have found that no one has articulated a really good definition of the differences between 'data.frames', 'matrix', and 'arrays' and even 'factors'. format numbers as words
Does anyone know if there is a function available which can format any entered number as words? eg: ''1234'' would be ''One Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty Four'' In the past, I would have said this is a tall order, but from what I''ve seen with playing with rails for a short time, I don''t know what to expect. :) Thanks for any help, Damien

clustering on Trinary data
Dear all, I have a data matrix with 7 independent variables, and each of them is a trinary variable ( - 1, 0 , 1), and I would like to know what kinds of R package or method I should use to perform the clustering.
