How to get rid of the \\my_server\homes share?
Hello all,
Samba 3.0.1 on Sun Solaris 5.9.
I'm seeing both a share \\my_server\homes and a share
\\my_server\<username>.
For example:
\\my_server\homes
\\my_server\doejohn
Or:
\\my_server\homes
\\my_server\doejane
Both point to the home dir /export/home/doejane of user doejane.
I want to get rid of the \\my_server\homes share and - in this case - only
want \\my_server\doejane to

Complete format-description of smbpasswd?
...html
It is very good, but I have an account flag like 'UX' and the 'X' flag is
not written. What does that mean? Are there a complete documentation
somewhere or this is just a mistake from my old samba 2.2.6a (now I have a
working 3.0.2a).

Changing 644 back to 600 on smbpasswd automatically?
...le somehow
it changed back to 600, so it was fully unreadable again :(
How can I set that the samba don't need to change it back OR change it
deafaultly to 644?
(someone told me to make a hardlink to the file when it is 644 but that did
not help)

%U doesn't replaced in smb.conf
...t should I check? What logging
paramteres should I make a log for someone, who can help?
The problem is the length of the names for sure (max length around 80 chars),
because if I rename the long ones to 3 chars I can enter the
directory, and I can open tham, and everything is good.
ThankS, BYE:

Samba 3.02 with dos filenames
I have a directory that holds information in a shared directory. Its
f:\applications. The program thinks its under f:\applic~1 (which is the
same directory, it works on a windows share). I've tried everything to
get this to work. I've set the mangled names = yes and mangled case =
yes, on that share, but nothing seems to work. What am I missing?

Problems copying some files from windows to linux
Hi,
This might not be entirely samba server related, but the problem I am
experiencing is affecting a planned implementation of a new Samba
Server, and from the smbmount man page, it appears that this is the
recommended list to reqest help - so hopefully someone might be able to
assist :-).
I am running a Debian Linux machine (kernel 2.6.0) with Samba 3.0.1
which will soon be replacing an
