Tecnical issue with samba and .mdb file
Hello everybody, I'm having trouble with samba 3.5.11 and an access 97 database. I work in a business with 5 users that use a mdb database over samba, and for the first to make a query everything works fine, but if some other user tries to make a query when the first one is doing it, the database works really slow, like if the .mdb file is being blocked (that's what I suppose). I've

PS: Sorry for the cross posting I've jute realized this post should rather be in this list than samba-tecnical.

CrossOver Linux Vs. Wine
...the same time cooperating with the project "Wine" that's free. Wine could be today better than CrossOver Linux, but who knows, perhaps you are sabotaging and delaying the Wine project. I Don?t understand why you don?t develop software 100% free and paid, also you can charge for the tecnical support. thanks for reading ;) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Mixing portrait/landscape in a postscript file
Dear list, I'm stuck with a little graphical problem. I'm generating several lattice plots which are printed in a single postcript device opened by > trellis.device(postscript, theme=canonical.theme("postscript", color=F), file="an_phase2_graph.ps", paper="a4", pointsize = 10, onefile=TRUE, horizontal=TRUE) Everything works fine, but some of these

garchFit
Hi, i am a student of tecnical mathematics in austria, and my english is not sooo good, German would be easier, but an answer in english is perfect too. I would need any help to understand the exact output of the function "garchFit". Maybe it would help me just to know what the coefficients are telling me. I do al...

some win98 machines will see the samba server, others won't.
I am running an NT domain with a Unix Server running samba. The password authentication is on the NT box. Some W98 clients will happily see the samba server, and map a drive to a share in the login script, other won't. When the client uses the net use command it returns one of two messages either: Error 54: The network is currently busy processing other requests or is out of resources. Try

compare st_mode & 07777, or Aix dirs always differ
Under Aix directories have the mode 024xxxx instead of the customary 04xxxx. Because of this when you sync a directory to or from an Aix system it's never up to date. Here is a patch which fixes this. It causes rsync to look at only the bits that chmod actually influences, 07777, when deciding whether or not the modes differ. I was surprised there wasn't an existing constant for 07777,

ICES with MP3Pro?
Greg, Yes, I have noticed that new codec.. AACPlus. Its really impressive in it's abilities, and it's sound quality. I tried to open it up with Windows Media Player and my Flash Player.. didn't seem to like it very much. While It's really kewl as a codec, and it has great support with a couple players, and limited support for the rest, I'll stick with the mainstream for now,

Samba over IPX
I would like to add my case for a wish of IPX support in Samba: We use a number of CNC tool machines whose host is pure DOS based. Don't be surprised that DOS is stilll running somewhere. It is fairly OK when we get to the field of HW and real-time control, unlike Windows and the like... These hosts use IPX to access LAN shares. IPX is here preferable to TCP/IP because of its lower memory

Problem with call pickup
I have configured call pickup, and this works fine. Although there are 2 problems, perhaps anyone would know a solution to this; - When I pickup a call from another set, the *8 code keeps being displayed in my screen (Snom 220). I would like it to show the phonenumber of the person calling me. - When a caller that I've answered through Call-Pickup disconnects, my phone does not close

ZFS and Linux
Hello, I believe that ZFS and it''s concepts is truly revolutionary to the point that I no longer see any OS as modern if it does not have comparable storage functionality. Therefore I think that file system/disk manager with similar qualities should be written for Linux. Does Sun have plans to dual license ZFS as GPL so it can be ported to native Linux? If not, is it legal to write

Split access, load balancing AND forwarding: HOW?
The LARTC howto correctly describes load balancing and split access for traffic from a machine with multiple ISP connections (http://www.lartc.org/lartc.html#LARTC.RPDB.MULTIPLE-LINKS) -- *provided* the traffic originates from the machine itself (i.e. traffic regularly handled by the INPUT and OUTPUT chains of iptables). When forwarding traffic from an attached local network, the following
