Chromium on CentOS 6
...works fine, I now need to install it on a CentOS 6 workstation. However, it is not available in EPEL as it is for C 7. From what I understand, this is because it is already available in a supplementary channel from RHEL for C 6.
Is this the recommended method for installing it on C 6?

Markdown editor for CentOS 7?
Hi,
I recently discovered Markdown, and I'm currently using it to write some
documentation for CentOS 7.
https://github.com/kikinovak/formation-linux
For the time being, I'm using my good old Vim editor for writing it. I
turned off syntax highlighting, since this produces random results with
Markdown.
Pages are correctly displayed on Github, but in order to see them, I

a few simple questions about upgrading an "official" centos 7 release
...nd this
piece:
https://www.vultr.com/docs/use-dnf-to-manage-software-packages-on-centos-7
which suggests it shouldn't be a problem. thoughts?
finally, any concerns i should have about upgrading the kernel from
3.10 to 4.14 or 4.15, as explained in a number of places like this:
https://www.tecmint.com/install-upgrade-kernel-version-in-centos-7/
i simply prefer to run a current kernel but i can resist the
temptation if upgrading that on a centos 7.4 system would introduce
more problems than are worth it.
thoughts?

Hardening Apache on CentOS 7
...box server running CentOS 7, and I'm currently
experimenting quite a lot with Apache and how to secure it. My approach
is very much trial-and-error. I've started with these two articles:
https://devops.profitbricks.com/tutorials/how-to-harden-the-apache-web-server-on-centos-7/
https://www.tecmint.com/apache-security-tips/
I've also discovered the Nikto vulnerability scanner, and I'm playing
around with it.
Besides all this, I'd be curious to know your approach in securing
Apache, the tools you use, maybe the odd do's and don'ts, suggestions,
some good books and/or onli...

Does that imply that I should abandon VLC or just rpmfusion?
This site:
http://www.tecmint.com/install-vlc-media-player-in-rhel-centos-fedora/

I already have epel enabled.
Should I use its suggestion to install the nux repo?

USB 3.0 in qemu-kvm-0.12
I suspect I know the answer here, but is qemu-kvm-0.12 simply incapable
of passing a USB 3.0 device to a guest? USB 2 devices work fine, but
USB 3 -- nothing. USB 3.0 works fine in the host, of course.
Currently using qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.479.el6_7.4.x86_64 in CentOS 6.7.
I'm guessing I have to upgrade to CentOS 7 to pass USB 3.0 devices
to the guest. Hoping to avoid that just now.
