Legal issues for non-profit radio stations.
Hi All, Some time ago I emailed this list and mentioned (as well as a couple of techinical queries) that I was trying to contact the PRS for information on the copyright licencing requirements of a non-profit on-line radio station, a few people expressed interest in this and asked I keep them updated. Well I just sent my third email (transcript below) informing them that I will assum...

dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA
hello, I like your point here .. it's difficult to make such a comparision, since yacast.fr choosed to stream like that. Why did they choose to stream like that? That's beyond me, since Radio France has a budjet of millions. The point of this comparision was to show why is Radio France doing and paying for something like this? Me, with cheap computers which were had no more value (well,

Channel Bank
...-(bundle of Analog lines-FXS +FXO)------>Channel Bank-----------E1-------->X100P(* Box) I'm using pleidaes Channell bank currently which does the FXO+FXS to E1 conversion for me. The trouble is I'm having some call disconnection problem with this CB. And I also saw that people had techinical problem with this channel bank in the MIRC chat group. What other alternative (better) channel banks could I use to do this function. Heard Adtran is good. Do they provide this functionality ? What exact model of Adtran could I use ? Pls suggest any other... denzel.

[RFC PATCH 2/3] netdev: kernel-only IFF_HIDDEN netdevice
...ed), while no one barely cares about ABI or API compatibility in the kernel level, as long as their applications don't break. I agree the current bypass solution for SR-IOV live migration requires guest cooperation. Though it doesn't mean guest *userspace* cooperation. As a matter of fact, techinically it shouldn't invovle userspace at all to get SR-IOV migration working. It's the kernel that does the real work. If I understand the goal of this in-kernel approach correctly, it was meant to save userspace from modification or corresponding toolstack support, as those additional 2 int...

ABR or CBR?
Just in case my quotation causeed misunderstnaing... Forget about what I quoted before. Probably, by CBR, Monty meant ABR since CBR is stupidly patented and this is the reason why Vorbis has no CBR option. If you know this, it cannot be a problem but I see there is a question asking what is ABR in the mailing list. >On Thu 28 Jun 2001, 23:27:41 PDT, Monty (xiphmont@xiph.org)Wrote: >then

samba + ldap + pam_mkhomedir ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi list, I'm on the way to implement samba with ldap on five servers (each owns a different nt-domain) and a master server which maintains the central user database which gets replicated to all the other servers. Now I have just one more problem, namely homedirs. I want every user to have a homedir to store for example his profile. This has to

Is Asterisk ready for "real" use?
Okay, I am facing a move in two months to newly renovated space. I have to decide *this week* between: A) Pull LAN and phone cables, prepare to move and expand our "traditional" PBX (Panasonic KX-TD1232 and VPS200). or B) Pull only LAN cables, go VoIP, use Asterisk as PBX. It is *not* an option to purchase a VoIP system package from Cisco, 3com, etc. Installers are getting an
