USB support in wine for TDK CD/DVD Print Labeller
Hi Does anybody know whether wine works with USB ports or not ? The reason I ask is that I'm trying to get the application TDK CD/DVD Printer Labeller Software running, the software appears to work except for the fact it complains that "The printer is turned off or not connected to the computer". http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3751 Is there some other layer of software that needs to be installed...

Rsyncing Windows directory to a Linux box: problem with spaces in directory names
Hello, I am trying to rsync folders/files hosted on a Windows machine to a Linux machine. Many of the directory names have spaces in them. How can I list them in a file so that the --include-from option use them correctly? Thanks! Charles -- Charles-E. Nadeau Ph.D http://radio.weblogs.com/0111823/

I certainly don't recall this behavior with 4-STABLE; my recent migration to 6-STABLE was a bit precipitous (though I had been tracking 6-STABLE, it was on a slice I didn't really use all that much on my laptop). idea regarding USB/firewire devices
>I don''t use Firewire .. .so I''m useless... anyone got any ideas? Try this: Delete the releveant entries at /etc/fstab. Unplug the devices. Reboot. Plug the devices back in. Reboot. I did this with a TDK CD burner, and it worked (for some reason)

Wine CD-ROM on Mac OS X
Can Wine access DVD-RW devices natively on Mac OS X like it can on Linux? I was using Wine in Linux to run ImgBurn and it worked great, but I recently switched to Snow Leopard and I don't know how to configure this. I tried adding the Volume that was mounted by Finder. I tried adding /dev/disk2. Neither worked. I really like ImgBurn and do not want to abandon it if possible. Thanks.

Live CD?
I just used a Live CD for the first time today, in part to show what CentOS can do for a co-worker who is looking at using it at work and home, but I got the strangest result. We booted the CD and let the centos user log in. It took a really long time to load the desktop and there were no panels, so the only things we could do were browse the computer, CD, home, file system, keyboard (sort of)

Best 1.5TB drives for consumer RAID?
Which consumer-priced 1.5TB drives do people currently recommend? I had zero read/write/checksum errors so far in 2 years with my trusty old Western Digital WD7500AAKS drives, but now I want to upgrade to a new set of drives that are big, reliable and cheap. As of Jan 2010 it seems the price sweet spot is the 1.5TB drives. As I had a lot of success with Western Digital drives I thought I would

[PATCH 0/9] tools: remove or disable old/useless/unused/unmainted stuff
depends on "autoconf: regenerate configure scripts with 4.4 version" This series removes some of the really old deadwood from the tools build and makes some other things which are on their way out configurable at build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge them to be. * nuke in tree copy of libaio * nuke obsolete tools: xsview, miniterm, lomount & sv *
