Where samba store printer/driver information?
...rs and drivers, so i've to set it all. Old samba 3 was clear: https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/old/Samba3-HOWTO/tdb.html but now i've not found (even doing 'tdbdump') where printer names, driver association and so on are stored. I've found: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/TDB_Locations but nothing more. Someone can help me? Thanks. --

Backing up tdb files
...I am running Centos's samba-4.9.1-6.el7.x86_64 as a PDC. There is a basic backup routine which backs up all files under /var/lib/samba but this appears to be wasteful, especially as gencache.tdb keeps growing until I delete. I can find a Samba3 reference at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/TDB_Locations but it does not cover all Samba4 files such as smbprofile.tdb. I can see gencache.tdb is not needed - I have to delete it regularly as it keeps growing. There was a thread in the mailing lists https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2018-September/218367.html and this seems to suggest you need n...

I don't know anything about printing, but these have the right kinds of attributes: lDAPDisplayName: printQueue systemMayContain: driverVersion systemMayContai...

Can these (unused) tdb files be removed after upgrading to 4.1?
...t one of these may have been caused by a very old smbpasswd file in /var/lib/samaba/private since the post-upgrade uid was the same as was in this ancient file. This led me to try and clean out old/unused files from the directory. I found a list of tdb locations at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/TDB_Locations and removed the ntdrivers, ntforms, ntprinters, and unexpected tdbs since they were marked as being removed in 3.6. It's been several days since upgrading and running "ls -ltu" shows that the following tdb files have not been accessed post-upgrade and I was wondering if they can safe...

tdb_expand overflow detected
Hello, I'm using samba416-4.16.11 on FreeBSD 14.1 (on ZFS, in a jail, with quotas on those filesystems, etc) I'm seeing these entries in my logs. Is this something which needs action? If not, I'll start ignoring them. Nov 11 19:00:45 tm samba-dcerpcd[7373]: [2024/11/11 19:00:45.852391, 0] ../../lib/tdb_wrap/tdb_wrap.c:65(tdb_wrap_log) Nov 11 19:00:45 tm samba-dcerpcd[7373]:

tdb_expand overflow detected
...: it is not corrupt. My first guess to solve this issue: * shutdown samba * remove the file (/var/db/samba4/gencache.tdb) * start samba However, that doesn't seem to solve the problem. It's just making it go away until it grows again. Advice please? 1 - https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/TDB_Locations -- Dan Langille dan at langille.org
