3.0.6 and pam_winbind problems (sernet)?
Recently I upgraded a server from samba 3.0.2a to 3.0.6, and now apache
won't authenticate properly with pam_winbind. Winbind's been restarted,
apache has been restarted, for grins I even rebooted the server.

Samba 3 - ntlm_auth ntlmssp failing
.../ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp always
fails (NTLMSSP NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED). This is with an NT domain
controller. We're running samba 2.2.8a everywhere else, this is first
jump to 3.0.
Only winbindd is running, not samba. Here is the smb.conf:

server string = Samba Server on LINBETA
interfaces = eth0 127.0.0.1/24
bind interfaces only = yes

Samba 3 beta 3 helpers and squid?
I'm trying the new RHEL 3 beta, which comes with samba 3 beta 3, and
squid 2.5.STABLE3. Both samba and squid seem appropriately compiled...
and I'm using the same config files as samba 2.2.8a and squid
2.5.stable3 (which worked), but windows authentication with the helpers
is failing.
I asked the squid list first, and got
"Samba 3 supports Basic and NTLM authentication for Squid and

Cannot Sync Browser Lists
I run an IPsec/Freeswan VPN to connect 4 disparet windows LANS.
I managed to RTFM until cross-subnet browsing worked (samba 2.0).
Having upgraded to 2.2.3 It would seem that this feature is not working.
BACKGROUND:
originally all sources of information led me to understand that I would
need a box running samba behind the firewall/IPsec box as I could not
even ping a remote internal IP from the
