Is HTB qdisc within HTB qdisc is valid on newer kernels? If yes, what is
wrong in this setup?
This setup works fine when I use one HTB qdisc and many classes within
classes.

Trying to do some very simple ingress limiting, no success
Hi,
I am trying to do some simple ingress limiting based on fwmark. I know
the ability and sense to do INGRESS limiting is ehm... limited ;-) but
still I want to try it.
I tried several things.

Has anyone benchmarked fs performance on PATA IDE disks vs.
otherwise comparable SCSI or SATA disks (I vaguely recall
having read that SATA has working TCQ, i.e. not broken by
design as with PATA)?
I have read a few times that SCSI disks perform much better
than IDE disks. The usual reason given is "SCSI disks are built for
servers, IDE for desktops". Is this all, or is it TCQ that
matters? Or is the Linux SCSI core better than the IDE core...

creating a fast ZIL device for $200
Recently, I''ve been reading through the ZIL/slog discussion and
have the impression that a lot of folks here are (like me)
interested in getting a viable solution for a cheap, fast and
reliable ZIL device.
I think I can provide such a solution for about $200, but it
involves a lot of development work.

Better to use a single large storage server or multiple smaller for mdbox?
I'm trying to improve the setup of our Dovecot/Exim mail servers to
handle the increasingly huge accounts (everybody thinks it's like
infinitely growing storage like gmail and stores everything forever in
their email accounts) by changing from Maildir to mdbox, and to take
advantage of offloading older emails to alternative networked storage
nodes.

Recommendation for home NAS external JBOD
Hi,
my oi151 based home NAS is approaching a frightening "drive space" level. Right now the data volume is a 4*1TB Raid-Z1, 3 1/2" local disks individually connected to an 8 port LSI 6Gbit controller.
So I can either exchange the disks one by one with autoexpand, use 2-4 TB disks and be happy. This was my original approach. However I am totally unclear about the 512b vs 4Kb issue.

MCP55 SATA data corruption in FreeBSD 7
I am having problems with silent data corruption on (some) drives
connected to an MCP55 SATA controller.
I have two servers, both running RELENG_7_0/amd64. One has the 570 Ultra
chipset, the other has 570 SLI. Both chipsets have the MCP55 SATA
controller.
The server with 570 Ultra chipset has a bunch of older 250GB SATA-150
drives hooked up to the MCP55 controller and it is working just fine.

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
