removing loops from code in making data.frame
...I am working on an author network and to do so I have to arrange a data.frame (tutu) crossing author names (rows) per publication number (column). The participation of the author to a study is indicated by a 1 and 0 otherwise.
I have a vector (xaulist) of all the names of authors and a data.frame (tata) with all the publications in row and the authors in columns. I have writen a loop to obtain my data.frame but it takes a long time when the number of studies increases. I was looking for a more efficient code.
Here is a minimal working example (my code is terrible i know...):

I followed several manuals and howtos to get it running. It looks all

How Dovecot 2 create folders and subfolders ( MBOX format ) with TB ?
Hello
When creating new IMAP folder with thunderbird and Dovecot
configured with the std MBOX format dovecot create a file in
mbox format and so it is not possible to create a subfolder of
this folder.
If you ask to create a NEW subfolder of the form : TOTO/TATA
Dovecot create a directory TOTO containing a mbox file TATA.
Very useful :-)
I suppose the "/" separator is parsed by dovecot then it creates
a directory containing the mbox file. Am I right ?

Building tkentry dynamicly
Dear R-users,
I would like to build N "tkentry" compounds in the same window, with
default text for each. As N is variable I need to construct them in an
iterative way :
library(tcltk)
main<-tktoplevel()
tktitle(main)<-"My Tool"
filenames<-c("toto","tata","titi")
N<-length(filenames)
for (i in 1: N) {
text<-tclVar(filenames[i]) # get a filename (string value)
textField<-tkentry(main,textvariable=text) # build a text field
tkgrid(textField)
}
The problem is : How to keep references for each tclVar creat...

do carriers detect unusual / unauthorized VoIP calling patterns?
...y question: do carriers build some type of "internal blacklist" if they detect unusual VoIP calling patterns? And
possibly trade that between themselves, for example one carrier detects it, and after some time other carriers are
aware? The carrier was used for the unauthorized calls is Tata... I'm curious as to why Verizon (evidently) knew
before Tata.
-Jeff
PS. Interesting footnote: upon learning of the Verizon block, one of our employees drove to the lab and disconnected
the VoIP subnet (with the Asterisk box), reset some routers, etc in an attempt to get the company remote...

[EXTERNAL] Re: NOTE: multiple local function definitions for ?fun? with different formal arguments
Here's a dummy example that I think illustrates the problem:
toto <- function() {
if (runif(1) < 0.5)
function(a) a
else
function(a,b) a+b
}
> fcn <- toto()
> fcn(1,2)
[1] 3
> fcn <- toto()
> fcn(1,2)
[1] 3
> fcn <- toto()
> fcn(1,2)
Error in fcn(1, 2) : unused argument (2)
How can you use the returned function, if you get different arguments?
