[PATCH nbdkit 0/3] tar: Implement tar-limit
This patch series cleans up some issues with nbdkit-tar-filter and (in patch 3) implements a new tar-limit feature which limits how much of the tar file we will read to find the entry within the tar file that we will serve. This protects against the case where a tar file is presented that contains much content at the front that we must iterate over (and download) before we get to the entry we are

copy/paste centos 6
I had to update all these packages on CentOS 6 for a project. Everything works great on CentOS 6 - except - Copy/Paste between applications. Anyone - know which application below might control that function? Example I cannot have firefox running and copy and paste text into thunderbird. Both applications - actually all applications work - I just cant copy/paste. I'm thinking I did not

libguestfs error: need help troubleshooting
Hi, I'm trying to manually create a rhel7 image using the qemu-img and virt-install commands. I'm re-testing a procedure I previously wrote with the new grub commands that a customer suggested we add in. This procedure is available at: http://file.bne.redhat.com/dnavale/docs/review/RH-guides/AG-020715/#sect-create-images As in the procedure, I'm able to run all steps successfully

[PATCH nbdkit] New filter: tar.
This filter can be used to open tar files. It uses the technique first suggested by Eric Blake here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2020-July/msg00017.html We suggest that nbdkit-tar-plugin is deprecated in nbdkit 1.26, but it might happen later. --- docs/nbdkit-captive.pod | 4 +- filters/offset/nbdkit-offset-filter.pod | 2 +- filters/tar/nbdkit-tar-filter.pod

FreeBSD tar errors on valid empty tar.gz
Seems our current libarchive? That support FreeBSD's tar implementation has a bug where it can create archives it cant read back. This can be seen by simply creating an empty tar.gz file and then trying to expand or list it. In doing the above you get the following error: tar: Unrecognized archive format: Inappropriate file type or format N.B. gtar can list and expand the created file

I had a need on a centos 5.4 x86_64 box to try and run with a later totem. I desired to do this by source. After installing the packages below my system comes up, I thought everything was good. thunderbird comes up firefox comes up. totem works -------- however there seems to be an issue with closing or opening windows some random time later with all three programs. It gives the impression

Hi Rich, I'm not sure how far this helps as it mostly says 'No space left on device', but here's the output of the command you asked me to run: ➜ tmp /usr/bin/supermin --build -v -v -v --copy-kernel -f ext2 --host-cpu x86_64 /usr/lib64/guestfs/supermin.d -o /tmp/appliance.d supermin: version: 5.1.9 supermin: rpm: detected RPM version 4.11 supermin: package handler: fedora/rpm

[PATCH nbdkit] tar as a filter.
For review only, this needs some clean up and more tests. My eyes are going cross-eyed looking at the calculate_offset_of_entry function, so time to take a break ... Rich.

samba_backup
Hallo, i tried to backup samba4 by using the samba_backup script. I removed ?>/dev/null 2>&1?-Pipe from the tar-commands. Tar could not archive the temporary msg-files, because they where open. My question is, do I need the temporary msg-files for a complete samba4 database-backup? Thank you. tar: ./private/smbd.tmp/msg/msg.31043.1: socket ignored tar:

About the tar extract signal directory~~
Hi,all: I've couple of large tarballs such as www.tar and images.tar. Is it possible to extract a single file or a list of files from a large tarball such as images.tar instead of extracting the entire tarball? How do I extract specific files under Linux / UNIX operating systems? Thanks in advance ~~ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
