Controlling the length of line with abline(lm())
...ke to limit the length of this line to the range of my data. However, I have not been able to figure out how to. Very disconcertingly, I found out that all the books that teach statistics using R seem to be drawing such infinite length-lines. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Help with axis labels

Kalman Smoothing - time-variant parameters (sspir)
...s))$m (1) I read in http://ww.math.aau.dk/~mbn/Teaching/MarkovE05/Lecture3.pdf that this is requred as there is a bug in sspir. To what should I set ss$ss$m0 and ss$ss$C0? (I did notice that smoother() replaces these, but it still matters what I initialize it to in the first place) Many thanks! Tariq Khan

S4 'properties' - creating 'slot' functions?
...is slot function, ie the round-about, clumsy way would have to look like MyObject@Property(MyObject). Ideally, the pseudo-code I have in mind might look like this for an object with two slots (A and B) Object@A = function() return(.this@B) Thoughts and considerations would be very interesting. -Tariq [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Help with unstack() function
...k, there is an example of unstack() function but that one uses a very simple data frame (only two columns). I would like to know how to handle more complex data frames as in the exercise. BTW, this is not a school assignment; I am learning R using this book on my own. Thanks for any help. Regards, Tariq [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Strange Expression
Hello, I have a dataframe with a column 'col' of expressions of the form 2*3+4*5+6*7 and substrings thereof. Now >eval(2*3+4*5+6*7) is ok. But I want it done on that column... nothing seems to work Even > cil <- dataframe$col >eval(cil[1]) 2*3+4*5+6*7 I want the elements of the column evaluated. Thanks, A. Mani Member, Cal. Math.
